Are the left/right USB ports different on Mid-2012 Mac Air?

On some older MacBook Pro's, the left side port was for higher powered devices then the right side supported. Most of the time if you plug a device in to the right side port it will inform you something's trying to draw too much power. I think newer devices are smart enough to negotiate that...

Why doesn't apple support blu ray playback?

Do you know what MPEG-2 means? It's a video compression format. There is no such thing as uncompressed MPEG-2. High bitrate MPEG-2 is about as good as it gets in terms of high def video, but it's still compressed. Uncompressed 1080i@60 fields per second would end up at over a terabyte for a...

Richard Huddy of AMD says DX API & Consoles holding back PC gaming visuals.

Back in the day developers were complaining about the PS2 not having a solid API, making it much more difficult to program for. But, toward the end of the PS2's life, developers were able to find various tricks and techniques that wouldn't have been available through a high level API to get the...

How many Sandy-Bridges to run IBM's Watson?

I felt like this was a bit of BS from the IBM'ers. If you buzz in too early there's a timeout window where you're no longer able to buzz in. Watson will never run into this issue. Any humans fighting to squeeze in ahead of Watson will hit it over and over again. It looked like if the...

googled and researched. ATI 5770 or other 5xxx cards and 3 monitor setups ????

http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx The video card can only output to two legacy monitors at the same time. They don't have the output circuitry on the card to drive a third monitor over DVI/HDMI/VGA. So it's a hardware issue keeping you from doing what you want...

Watch out with these boards and any 125W AMD processors (includes the Athlon x2 6400+ and a couple of the new Phenoms). Anandtech reported a bunch of motherboard failures when using the high power draw processors. I ran into random issues with the Asus micro atx board where the processor...

    Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Player for $269

    ATHLON 64 x2 3600 AM2 Brisbane OEM $59 shipped

    ATHLON 64 x2 3600 AM2 Brisbane OEM $59 shipped

Just got my processor yesterday. Threw it in my Foxconn Nforce 590 SLI board with a Nautilus water cooled setup. Threw a high memory divider on just to work out the processor clocking capability. Bumped the voltage to 1.4 and left it burning in/SP2004 9.5 x 295 (2.8gHz). That was without...

    ATHLON 64 x2 3600 AM2 Brisbane OEM $59 shipped

Well, this x2 3600 is the 65nm Brisbane, so its power consumption will be less than the Windsor 4200. In my case, I've got one of those Corsair Nautilus water cooling systems, and my experience with my current system is that a 9.5 multi is enough. My MB/Ram seems to be pretty happy in a...

I ordered one of these to go in my Foxconn 590SLI board. I'm currently running an early Athlon 64 3000+, stable at 2.8 ghz (9x311), so I'm hoping to get similar overclocking results with the dual core.

All I know is that I paid $95 for an AM2 3000+ and its been running on the Foxconn 590 SLI board at 9x324 (2.91 ghz) perfectly fine. Was going to upgrade to dual core, but this processor seems to game just peachy.

    More on AMD's roadmap

I would imagine they're starting at lower clock speeds so that they can ship in volume at the frequencies they're stating immediately. If they're going to release at 3ghz at 90nm, they've been binning processors that run at that speed for a while.

Why would anyone buy AMD right now?

About a week after AM2 came out, I got the Foxconn 590 SLI board and an Athlon 64 3000+ (for about $109 :-/) I really wanted a new PC at the time, and Conroe wasn't out yet. I figured AM2 should have enough legs to satisfy me (I was upgrading from an Asus A7N8X Nforce 2 board I'd bought at...

Time Crisis 3 with Dual guncon 2 for ps2 for $19.99

    DEAD: Westinghouse LVM-42w2 - 42" 1080p LCD TV - MAJOR PRICE DROP $1499.99

It was a legitimate deal for a couple days, plenty of people got it from the store no problem. The rumor is that there's a new model coming out that supports HDMI 1.3 spec (better compatibility with future 1080p sources over HDMI?) and this was an attempt to get rid of stock.

So, I just saw a bunch of Nforce 500 boards...

I think there's actually something up with the current PCI E 1x slot implementation on motherboards. I've been using a few SIIG PCIe 1x Firewire cards, and compatibility in motherboards has been pretty hit or miss. On a K8n-SLI, with the PCIe firewire card in, the board would fail memtest...

That extended PCB comes on all the XPS's with SLI. Dell got Nvidia to make them special 7800's so that the other end can mount securely into the front of the case. That way in shipping/transit the heavy weight of the cooler doesn't damage the card. Many server SCSI/RAID cards use a similar...

Normally it takes a big percentage off deal and a $40 off $400 stackable coupon to get it down around $370. 2005FPW deals tend to go to $370 quarterly, lower maybe once a year (normally some sort of coupon stacks that shouldn't and it takes a little while for Dell to catch it).
