Speeds on wifi half of wired

Tried switching channels... no help. I'm assuming my router, which is about a year old, isn't up to snuff.

Speeds on wifi half of wired

Forgive me if there's a simple explanation... but I can run speakeasy speed tests and get 6 down through my router, but when i'm connected via wifi, my speeds drop to 2.5 down, 3 max. My router is closed and I use a 64-bit wep key.

Comcast crawling

I've got Comcast in DC, and I don't know if there have been outages or what in my neighborhood, but I may as well be on dial up. Slow as molasses. Anyone know of any network diagnostics I can try to get to the bottom of this? Comcast "doesn't know."

uTorrent draining the life out of my router

Thanks, I'll lower the max connections. I even notice that between one machine and the router (even going into the router's 192.1681.1 control panel it's terribly slow.)

uTorrent has been sucking the life out of my wifi. Though I'm downloading at a total rate through uTorrent of only 20k/sec, the rest of the machines' net speeds connected to my router are slowed to a crawl. Anyone know what could be going on? I consistently get 5-6mbit with Comcast, but...

PowerBook G4 airport not cooperating with Linksys

Using a Linksys WRT54G wireless router... XP machines in the house connect fine, but the OS X PowerBook doesn't work. It will connect to the network, but Safari won't load pages, IM clients don't work, etc., etc. Anyone know of a quirk with airport cards and that linksys router?

Looking for an easier way to combine multiple (and consecutive) mp3s into one mp3 file. The way I'm doing it now is laying them end-to-end in multi track software, but it takes 10 minutes to combine one mp3 totaling 2 hours! (these are radio shows).

tmpgenc not liking XviD AVI

For some reason TMPGEnc will load an AVI for the audio, but not for video. Says the file type is unsupported. They're AVI files encoded with XviD. Anyone experienced this or know a better encoder so I can burn my AVIs to a DVD?

Does anyone know how to deauthorize iTunes from a machine that hasn't been authorized? I've formatted both my tower and laptop recently and apparently iTunes gripes because I have 5 auth'ed already. Well I obviously can't get back to two of those because they've been formatted. And who knows...

Is Peer Guardian plus XP's own firewall enough or are there gaping holes here I'm ignorant of? I guess I'm looking for an excuse to stop using ZoneAlarm. The free ZoneAlarm isn't that powerful -- user wise. I can't set my own ports.

This is a problem I've noticed on XP not only with iPods but also SD memory cards. XP will lock up and the transfer will freeze for about 60 seconds when copying large amounts of files (greater than 50 megs or so) from the media to the hard drive. Sometimes, transferring one file at a time...

Strange laptop hardware noise

Well XP crashed while I was trying to burn backups to a DVD. Rebooted and burnt successfully this time around. I don't know what will happen to this hdd but at least my junk is safe for the time being.
