Thanks. The 1156 board I have has LGA775 holes too, and I have a 775 bracket that matches the look of that bracket, but I've tried for the last 45 minutes to mount it but the screws aren't long enough.. I'll just have to look around for this specific bracket.. thanks!
My friend gave me a Corsair H50 cooling unit.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835181010
It came with nothing to mount to though, and no screws. I currently have an LGA1156 motherboard with no mounting bracket (using stock i3 cooler)...
I put in a ticket to corsair to see what...
What you're saying def makes sense. I'll have to look at the Xeon to IB comparisons..
You're right I should try this i3 on for size since it's no further cash investment, to see what I get out of it and make the decision from there and buy me some time. Part of why I've been considering the...
This is what I am debating every day until the i3 arrives in the mail. Would a 3g i5 quad core cut my renders in half or more compared to the 1g i3 dual core? (This claim can be implied from what Sleepingforest said in the other thread I started...) If it really will then this is what really...
Sorry didn't mean to sound impatient... I was just saying that it's a tall order. Thanks for you input. Edit: unfortunately that board won't cut it for me as I need 4 ram slots.
Can anybody describe to me what the immense difference would be for my photography editing experience if I added an...
Well after shopping I understand why i shouldn't get much response here... Best I could come up with for what seemed a decent situation with Intel (without adding a card as TM suggested) is $277. With a 6670 g-card my total is $356 ($346 after rebate). It's a good exercise anyway...
This is a segway thread from my last thread... Basically I shined on getting a used LGA1156 45nm i7 cpu to finish my upgrade and am now considering completing my upgrade with a more current cpu/mobo.
My main intensive use of computer these days is image editing (16-bit raw files etc) and the...
I got into this situation by trading a bit of web design time for some hardware with a friend. He initially gave me an AMD setup that didn't work (either bad cpu or mobo not sure which one), so then he offered me the i3 if I bought a socket 1156 board and memory for it. Without really...
I haven't upgraded in ages (still on core 2 duo) and am about to finally take a step up.
I have all my components for an LGA1156 build except the CPU. I am waiting for a friend to send me a new Core i3-550 that I traded with him for some web design work.
In the mean time I came across a...
Itunes is pure evil for those of us who like to do things our own ways.. Itunes is so damn restrictive and controlling.. As with everything Apple, they aim to make it their way or the highway as much as possible..
I won an ipod in a raffle or I would have never even bothered trying it until...
ok fine.. after all these years of using irfanview for the easy stuff and faststone not looking like much on the cover so not trying it, i'll go ahead and take it for spin..
Well I am about to break down and buy a new board, and definitely from another manufacturer.. sheesh... I rma'd my non-posting p5b deluxe wifi/ap and two weeks later they sent me a plain used p5b deluxe in return, trying to pass it as a wifi (it said wifi on the sheet, but was just a used...
Trying to decide what is the best route to take from here.. My system was fine then just died out of the blue the other day... Now it won't post no matter what I do. At first the fans wouldn't even spin, so I got another (used) PSU... Now the fans occasionally will spin when I power on, but not...
I have had this case through a few upgrades now, and it has always been a pretty hot environment. With my latest upgrade I purchased an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro HSF and that has helped (running anywhere from 38c to 52c idle, as temps fluctuate quite a bit in my house) but I am still wanting...
thanks. I had found your list last night and was going through it and newegg and have that one on my list. I think I'm going with that one...

I am having some difficulty determining if I need a new PSU or not. I am actually out of town, and my upgrade parts came in from newegg yesterday, so I only had a couple of hours to try and get it running. I got it together and the blue led came on in the mobo, but no post. I ran out of time...

well i am assuming buying a couple cables and stuff would take another $10 or so off the savings and that combined with the risk makes it less of a score..
just looking for some opinions/info on going with a newegg refurb motherboard or to buy the retail option for another $33. (I am going to upgrade an older system with an ABIT NF7-S V2.) I can get the refurb for $49 or the retail for $82. (I am getting other stuff too in then same purchase so...

I dont manage that server anymore but we had AVG free on it and it did catch stuff a couple times.. i didnt say it was great, as I have also found virii through other programs that AVG didnt catch.. but it is decent and will catch the common pests..
i have an old epox 8kha+ with pc2100 in it. one of the 256MB chips has recently half fried and i need to get new memory. I would imagine it would handle a bandwidth upgrade i just don't know how much and how much would even make a difference to justify the price. any input would be appreciated...
"**Server Antivirus: Bitdefender Free Edition. I installed this on the free NFR copy of Server 2003 that MS sent me. It works perfectly. Panda, antiVir, and others won't even let you install their free versions. The only downside is that it doesn't provide realtime protection. "
