    New Moto devices announced 7/28/15

Same here. I'm not as interested in new phone releases anymore since they're all going 5+. My favorite screen size so far is the Nexus 4, 4.7 with 1280x768 (instead of usual 1280x720).

    HP LP2475W displayport bug?

(Bumping old thread.) Mark R - Did you ever figure this out and get it resolved? I probably have had the same issue for the past 2 years when I got my new laptop w/ displayport. I always thought it was a driver or laptop issue. It was extra annoying since I had the monitor setup as secondary...

    Lollipop thread (Android 5.0)

I've been using the lastest L preview, thanks to XDA, on my N4 for the last week and I haven't noticed any battery life improvements. I mainly use gmail, chrome, opera, news&weathers, messaging.. The new google apps are definitely something to get used to. The colors are much bolder. The...

9to5 Google claims this is the Nexus 6/X.

"Based on new information we've seen today, I've put together this image that depicts - as faithfully as possible - what the Nexus 6 will look like." Not quite confirmed since it's just a mockup image that was put together. Hopefully it's not bigger than 5.2, else whenever I upgrade it won't...

Can I efficiently backup data remotely to a NAS at home?

Don't forget to enjoy your vacation away from the camera. I average about 48GB of photos over 2 weeks on vacation. I mix up the image quality, else it would take a lot more space. Think about 17GB for 650 raw file. Also 1080p videos eat up space at a fast rate! Take a 1TB external drive...

    UFC 169 Feb 1st PPV 10PM/7PM ET/PT

It seemed like the 'do something' and the stoppage occurred within 2 seconds of each other. If it was at least 15 seconds, then it got stopped due to just covering up the stoppage would have been more fair.

    good ad blocking software?

Similar, though I updated my router dns server so it handles all devices on my network. This helps a lot for phone/tablets that do not have an adblock equivalent.

Good office chairs for long bouts of computer work?

I also have an Aeron in the office and a Leap at home and agree with your assessment of both. The Aeron's plastic front lip (that holds/surrounds the seat) is really annoying at times. It's a bit better with forward tilt, but not by much. The Leap is more comfortable, but the seat has a...

Who makes a good hiking/walking boot?

I'd had Merrell, Vasque, Nike and others before. I did like the Nike ACG (all condition gear) hiking sneakers. The Vasque broke. No comment on Merrell. The current Lowas are expensive, but well worth the money.

    The official Nexus 5 thread.

My Moto G can do 2days 15hrs and be at 9% battery left. That's with slightly over 4hrs screen on. (And 11hrs of keep awake from Tunein, not playing music.)

question about android and taskkillers, ram cleaners, etc etc.

I don't use them. My only advice would be to exit programs that run in the background after you're done with them. Tunein seems to keep awake if I 'pause' from lockscreen or quick notifications. I have to use the 'stop' icon.

New notebook better go i3 or i5, intel hd or vga?

Maybe change your browsing behavior? Firefox will let you keep the tabs when you exit the program. I also have a lot of tabs, but I exit the browser a couple of times daily. Firefox doesn't reload the page on the tabs until I click on that tab, so it helps on performance since all the tabs...

    Advice me a POWERBANK

I got a 10,000mah Romoss from Amazon for $25. The only issue is that it takes around 12hrs to recharge. I'd love to find one that took 5-6hrs to change. That pro about Romoss is that I can be using the battery while I'm charging it, though it will probably be recharging at a much slower...

New Small Biz Website - Ground Zero Advice

I wouldn't recommend setting up an externally accessible web server on your own network unless you're experienced at it. VPS hosting prices can be cheap ($6-8/m) and allows you to still use Ubuntu. Less to think about in terms of networking and keeping all your computers/servers/printers...

New Google Maps! Get it NAO!

YES. I didn't update, but I've read the recent articles about it. Never going to update until they bring offline maps back. Offline maps made it extremely easy for me to go on vacations out of the country. I don't need to get data plan. I just use GPS and offline maps and wifi when at...

This article/news has been on A LOT of websites a few days ago. A quick google search will show you that. If you don't read those sites, then you probably missed it. It of course still relies on you installing the app with the key and in most cases people will install from the App Store...

Old Thinkpad curiosities (Win key, trackpoint, etc)

I believe the Windows key got added around the 60 series. A lot of Thinkpad fan, and myself, didn't like the new addition. There were also slight changes in the trackpad buttons and enter key and other little things. People like the Thinkpad keyboards and get used to certain things and...

Did I just get myself fired or did I do the right thing?

The 2 months advance notice definitely sends the wrong signals. OP is weak and allowing them 2 months to replace him. That's extremely nice when you're mad.. If you're really mad, threaten to quit on the spot. See what they offer to keep you there. If you can't afford to make such a...

    Lenova Helix

No, very tempting though. Depending on what applications you run, be aware that it can get hot on the upper right corner of the display/tablet. It's a very fast tablet with an i7 and not a very strong fan. :)

Where are the thinkpad helix reviews

The Helix has had really poor timing on its release. It was possible to buy it from resellers a good month before Lenovo made it available on its own website. If you can wait a year, I would definitely hold off for a Haswell version. Heat can be a big issue on the Helix if you play games or...

When/What to Buy Given Haswell's Arrival

The Helix is very nice but the hardware and Windows 8 could be better. I've had one for a couple of weeks so far. Heat can be an issue if you're using it as a tablet (or laptop) and do any non-light work on it. Hitting 60-70c might not be an issue on a normal laptop, but on a tablet, you'll...

I was going to buy a Surface Pro when I realized I already have a MBPr

If a touchscreen or Wacom stylus (or tablet) features wasn't important to you, then the Surface Pro would lose in many comparisons and you wouldn't even think of it. In fact, that's why you never considered it before... and why you still aren't that interested in it now..

would you rather get laid off, or leave before it happens?

Start actively looking now. Look at all the job board at least a few times a week. There's a higher chance of finding a decent place if you're constantly looking. (You don't have to leave, but you'll have options.) I never got laid off, but I was with a company that did a major layoff and I...

Help in remote diagnosis this ThinkPad X60! (Overheating, USB boot issues)

See if the fan is moving. You can open it up carefully and remove anything blocking the fan. I had to open up my X61t to replace the hsf unit and didn't find it that easy. Lots of parts and screws to keep track of. It may be much easier on the non-tablet version.
