Question If you have bought a CPU in the last 3 years or so (since Ryzen came out) What was it ?

R5 2600X, replaced Xeon X5675 Laptop with i7 8750H, replaced old laptop with i7 2620m Waiting for zen 3 Ryzen with 8 cores to replace 2600X.

Speculation: Ryzen 4000 series/Zen 3

Zen 3 is 7nm (N7P), 8 cores per CCX, higher cache per core, faster IF, better IMC, better IPC, a bit higher frequency. Thats what is known about Zen 3. Saying Zen 3 is 5nm is contradicting what AMD himself already said about Zen 3, so only someone who ignores what AMD said spreads fake rumours...

Zhaoxin's ZX-F/KX-7000/KH-40000 and beyond

It doesnt have i7 920 in database but comparing with i7 2600k shows that my good old i7 920 also performed better than a KX-6780A. i7 920 is a 45nm 4 cores/8 threads cpu from 2008. It's a 12 years old cpu.

Question AMD preps Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, Ryzen 5 3600XT for June 16 ....TweakTown

Wait to see 3600XT performance and price. Then choose what fits better in performance/price. 3600 will be cheaper, so if you wait at least you'll save money. And buy ddr4 3600 kit. There are cheap kits (3600cl16) and worth the price. Ddr4 2400 will be a big bottleneck for any Ryzen 3000.

Core i7-920, HD 6950 and X25-M upgrade dilemna

Do you have a i7 920 C0 or a D0 revision? You can check this with cpu-z. With a i7 920 D0 colled by a Nh-D14 you easily achieve 3.8Ghz with nice temps. If it's a C0 you can 3.6GHz easily with decent temps but 3.8Ghz will be much more difficult and with much higher temps.

You can't OC in a dual socket Intel mboard. The only X58 dual socket mboard that can OC is EVGA Classified SR-2. And that's a expensive mboard in ebay. Maybe dual X5670 or dual X5675 is better, they have higher frequency. To use E56xx or X56xx you'll need to check which BIOS your board is...

you really need to clean that cooler and mboard heatsinks. My NH-D14 needs a cleaning too, but it's not as bad as yours. Yesterday I cleaned fan filters from my atx case, but I didn't clean the cooler. Cleaning the cooler means removing and changing thermal paste, aka lot of work.

Skip that X5675 ES and search for a X5675 non-ES. X5675 ES TDP: 130w X5675 TDP: 95w Xeon's ES only for newer socket than 1366/ X58. All X58 xeon's can overclock, for sockets after 1366/x58 to overclock a Xeon it must be a ES.
