Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

Sorry to resurrect this old and musty thread. I think on a per-clock, per-core basis, The A8-5545 should provide about 60-70% the performance of the old Celeron 1037U. I personally have that Biostar board and I don't like it very much. Because of the unusual mounting hole sizes, I've had no...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

Looks like the first of the full Braswell mobos are now (reliably) available on Newegg. Asrock N3700-ITX. It's supposedly capable of 4K (Probably not at 10-bit or other high bit rates) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157626 Price is a bit steep at $100 but, I believe...

    The Intel Atom Thread

I wouldn't blame the introduction of Pine Trail (yes, I agree they were horrible) for the "demise" of the netbook. The market wasn't particularly robust to begin with and the companies involved transitioned to the 11.6" thin and light form factor with the CULV big core processors where the...

    The next big gpu trend

The whole "convergence theory"? where everything will be shoehorned into something the size of a smart phone, where you attach a keyboard and monitor if you need a different input method?

    The next big gpu trend

In the matter of consumer graphics, I don't think lack of compute is a very big issue. We are talking about gaming here. I think I understand where he's coming from. It's not a metric of perf/w it's more a matter of perf/comfort of mind. I used to be all into the "moar cores" After a while...

Is NV ever going to spin up a new card for the under $100 price bracket ever again?

Question: Is it native (as in, filmed in) or just up-scaled, up-sampled 1080p media?

Is NV ever going to spin up a new card for the under $100 price bracket ever again?

Better yet, how much of the media you are watching is in 4K? 4k seems to be just a way to sell a new generation of more expensive TVs...and aside from a few test videos circulating on the net there's not even any native 4K content available...

Just what is someone with ~$200 to spend and a 7850 & 500W PS supposed to buy?

Oh wow, I was in almost the exact situation about 2 months ago you are now. I had a 2500K at 4ghz, and a 7850 GPU, gaming at 1080 and was feeling like I needed a little more power. I did have a slightly better PSU though, an EVGA 500W with a single 40A 12V rail. I was waiting on the 960ti/965...

    MSI mobo owners

I recently bricked my MSI H81I mobo while flashing through the bios MFLASH ultility. The flash actually looked like it was completed, then the motherboard wouldn't boot up ever again. So yah, even the MFLASH is suspect now in my mind. No removable bios chip on this motherboard either or I would...

They also have a Core i3 processor model as well for an even higher price :) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856167089 It looks like a NUC form factor device quite possibly replacing their Brix line.

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

When I first got the mobo, there must have been an error in engineering or QC, as the spacers they used for the HS/fan kept it from properly contacting the CPU. I was getting temps of 105C at boot and constant crashes and stuff. After I corrected the problem myself, I'm seeing far more normal...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

I have a small file server (it's offline most of the time) that I built with the ECS NM70-I2. It works pretty good with windows 2k8R2. Just remember to check the heatsink/fan. You may need to remove the spacers assuming they never fixed the problem.

Hey Guys, sorry it's been a long while. A busy summer for me. Just a shout out on some new products that have hit the consumer channels. Zotac has a new series of their ZBox models starting with the BI320. Decent model but lacks mini PCIE. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16856173102

    Athlon 5350 mini video Review

Running on an old 90W Liteon laptop ac adapter, I get the following results from my AM1H-ITX and an Athlon 5350 2.5" SSD and 2x2GB DDR3 1600 Idle: 17-18W Highest peak while running Passmark 8: 37W While Playing the 2009 Star Trek 1080p bluray rip (MPC-HC): 25-26W To contrast, I have a Pentium...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

It's actually a TFX PSU, but yeah, I am a bit surprised too despite Seasonic's reputation for good PSUs. Under load, the differences show. The 1037u barely crosses 26W, the G3220 goes up to 45-46W The sad thing is, the GT1 GPU in the G3220 is powerful enough to allow me to play Star Trek...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

    I know this is horribly out of date, but I just ran some idle power tests between a 1037u (Giada N70E-DR) and a socket 1150 with a celeron 3220. Giada N70E-DR: 1x4GB SO-DIMM, 80W picopsu, SSD. Idle: 14W MSI H81i + Pentium G3220: 2x2GB dimm, 300W Seasonic 80+Bronze, SSD Idle: 19W

Yes, I think it's been end-of-life'd as Gigabyte has a haswell celeron replacement already on their website called the Brix GB-BXCEH-2955 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4860#sp Pros: new 10EU GT1 GPU, 2.5" HDD or SSD (in addition to the original msata), 4-USB ports...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

Depends on the type of NAS. If you want to run freeNAS with ZFS, I'd recommend a real server class board with ECC memory. For a simpler NAS, I would agree with your recommendation on the Giada board, especially considering there's been a big price drop down to $129...

Here's the other Bay Trail board I found. Not exactly consumer, but definitely cheaper than the industrial boards that were shown at the trade shows. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?...Fcg7OgoduGYAjw There are 2 version, the "X10SBA" which is the full board pictured above and the...

I'm taking that into account. :) By about 4Q 2013, the celeron 1037u motherboards were in the marketplace in force (and already a generation old). We're approaching 2Q 2014 and there are 2 Bay Trail motherboards available for sale. The situation is even worse for the haswell...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

I am somehow getting the impression that manufacturers don't like to make mobos with soldered-on CPUs (I'm not talking about system vendors, just mobo manufacturers). It's been almost 8 months since Kabini was announced and there has been only 1 mobo (2 actually if you want to count the...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

The computational prowess actually is better than the C2D E5200 by quite a bit (According to passmark, 1400+ vs almost 2000) At 1080p, it plays most files on most video players pretty smoothly. On MPC-HC it ate everything I threw it without a hitch. Even the Disney landscape opening scene I use...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

Could be thermal throttling or profiling where the bios doesn't allow the CPU to exceed a certain threshold in thermals. The Brix has a much more significant heatpiped heatsink and fan assembly. The one in the Wind Box is tiny in comparison. Also, it could have something to do with dual vs...

The ECS is a clean config that has a 2x2GB configuration of DDR3 1333mhz memory and a 2.5" SSD The Giada board is currently in my microserver box, hooked up to 5 HDDs and has a 1x4GB configuration of DDR3 1600mhz memory (according to cpuid, it's actually running at 1600mhz!) Ok, did some basic benchmarking using passmark 8.0 and the difference in graphics performance just didn't show up. the ECS NM70-I2 scored around 260 in the 3D portion, It was running dual channel DDR3 1333, windows 7 pro SP1, x64 the Giada N70E-DR scored around 257 as well. It was...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

To contribute to your curiosity, I have the ECS NM70-I2 m-itx board sitting in a case with a 60W DC to DC converter board PSU (came with the case). With a standard 2.5" SSD and 2 sticks of DDR3 1333 ram, that system sips about 15W at the desktop idling, according to my kill-a-watt from the wall...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

The NM70 boards are great for testing and experimenting because of their cheap pricing and relative high performance. Now that you mention it, I think I may do some comparative testing on the 7750 I have lying around on the ECS board. The performance difference between the R7-250 and the 7750 is...

Are any Celeron 1037U Motherboards actually available?

If you're going to game, I'd recommend the new Haswell Pentium 3220 and an mitx socket 1150 board and a low profile radeon HD 7750 instead of the R7 250 (unless you are constrained by budget) Specwise, the 7750 is more powerful and has a lower TDP (neither requires additional power) the price...
