RAM amount dilema..

I can tell you from personal experience 1gb is preferable to 512mb even today, with 512mb after a game of UT2003 I have to wait several seconds for icons and any webpages etc to reload, with 1024mb their is no delay.

What kind of pc games does everyone play?

SB Audigy - Much better than older SB XGamer? Same probs?

I had a Santa Cruz in my old Athlon 2200XP machine, great soundcard but I went for an Audigy in my current P4 2.53 machine and it suits my ears better, sound is a very subjective issue you must understand, my santa cruz had a "warmer" feel to it wheras the audigy is somewhat harsher but maybe...

Which will be faster?

I am about to build myself a new PC and am torn between an Athlon 2200+ on a GA7-VAXP or a P4 2.53 on a GA8-IRXP , both with 2X512mb Samsung PC2700 and a Radeon 9700Pro, I need to stick with gigabyte for the motherboard as my trade supplier is a main agent, any ideas on comparative performance...

ive looked everywhere for info on the nec1700v - no luck :(

***UPDATE*** I had to return my 1700NX because a thunderfly (dunno if u call them the same in the USA, tiny midge of about 2-3 mm long) got inside the panel. NEC were fine about this and sent me a replacement, after 2 days I had the same problem, 2 thunderflies inside the screen, 1 of which...

ive looked everywhere for info on the nec1700v - no luck :(

I have the LCD1700NX which is a similar model, I believe the main difference is that my "NX" has DVI input wheras the "V" has D-SUB only. I am 100% happy with the panel, it is not the 1st TFT I have had (I replaced a 17" TECO/Relisys with this 1 a while back) but it is the best quality for sure...

I have just done a fresh install of win2K Pro (with service pack 2) on my Epox 8K7A+/T-Bird 1400 and am getting a blue screen flash up[ for around half a second when I shut down/restart, the error is something like PAGE_NOT_VALID and points to EB30000 I believe, also says the error is due to...

RAID Question

My 8K7A+ should arrive tomorrow, I would like to run my 2 IBM GXP60 41gb 7200 drives under Raid0 (striping) so I get a performance boost, I also have a 30gb 7200 Maxtor that I use for backup, I am hoping that I can use fdisk to partition the new RAID Array to have a 30gb partition for downloads...

Thank you for that, It's just that I can get the duron chip for £68, and a T/Bird would cost me around £200. Is there really that little difference between a 750 Athlon and a 1gb Duron?
