Well whaddya know 2nd gen maxwell was indeed fully Dx12 compliant with full feature set and all :D I'm really happy now with my gtx 980! Though what about resource binding tier? Is Maxwell Tier 2 still or Tier 3 for RBT?

780 GHz didn't made it to retail SKUs AFAIK, just one Gigabyte 780 GHz model was retailed but then it halted production so no more sold, if you got one of those rare cards then it is like getting a car that is limited edition with numbers inscribed at the chasis :D not available anymore...

CPU optimization was the low hanging fruit, and with overhead reduction came real high increases in percentage, GPU optimizations are left in the control of the developers (as per Mantle's working schematics) so if developers wants they can take the time and optimize lets say DirectCompute AA...

Wtih Dx constraints higher OC yields less percentile increase in performance, that's why you have to insan OC for 4 way SLI or Crossfire. Mantle changes those situations for multi gpus, there is no more constraint and you don't even have to insane OC, that hex core intel i7 was running at...

Not really since it's @1080p it is heavily CPU bound and tconsidering that CPU is high end intel, then Mantle is for every kind of bottlenecks high or low end doesn't matter.

The thing is most people go for Fx processors, and with money saved on cpu can go for stronger gpu. For me AMD FX 8350 and R9 290X, so I'm sure there are lots of people going all AMD/red just because they can save from the cpu and afford a better gpu in overall.

Yeah. It would make you daft if you coudn't fathom it. And 290x is better than Titan w/o Mantle, so it is still plausible :) Don't forget Titan is great for double precision rendering, not exactly a gaming card to begin with.

Top end cards can still gain from the gpu customizations they've done, how much I don't know but mantle isn't just for cpu overhead solution, it is much more than that. They even teased the idea of pushing new level of IQ in-game along with performance increase...

Gosh! They do my 290x is 5.6 TFLOPS! With Maxwell (at least real ones) delayed it will be king of the jungle. Only Titan is better in double precision, but that's what Titan is designed for, graphical designers not gamers.

I am not into this whole speculation/guesstimate thing tbh. I have an r9 290x and a BF4 on windows 8.1 so DirectX but still I can't sample for Mantle even if I downclock, overclock, undervolt my cpu and/or my gpu.... etc. because I do not have Mantle period. Any benches I would do is just PURE...

These are still all guesstimate benches. When mantle comes out there will be plenty of real benches. Mantle vs dx on i5 i7 fx with 270 280 290 290x. Just for 290X there will be 64 results for high end i7 i5 fx low end i7 i5 fx and all these for dx vs mantle. So keep your benches to yourself...
