I'm most interested how the cpu affects minimums', I have an 2500k @ 4.5 and am planning on getting a vega gpu when they come out, sold my 780ti about 6 months ago thank god!
Where in Ireland are you? I live in dublin. I've just had second son and have no time to game so I'm thinking of selling my evga 780ti superclocked with acx cooler, still has 8 years warranty on it...
Thinking about sidegrading to a 290x from my 780ti... I know its not worth it but so annoyed with the performance issues and worried it will get worse...
I kind of think the title of this thread should have a "possibly" in it. Someone saying something in a GeForce forum is far from offical confirmation and soon could be 12months from now!
Damn right, I wish I'd kept my 7970 under water, kept the cash and waited for 14nm gpus. Looking back on the anantech review I can see why I bought the 780 ti, it was almost twice as fast as my 7970 and generally beat the 290x by 10%.... How things have changed!
Anyway, I have a 780ti which is just over a year old. I think there is nothing much going on other than NVIDIA neglecting Keplar cards, perhaps they've got their hands full with the dx12 driver for windows 10? but I'm not going to make any excuses for them, I am pretty annoyed with them right...
I had that problem when I upgraded before, tried a new dvi cable and it worked then... Old card was fine with the older dvi cable... Must have been a tiny bit damaged...
Its ridiculous that this is still a problem... I'm an AMD fan, I've owened a 6950, 6970 and bought a 7970 at launch but I sold it recently due to suffering with this bug on and off for years now. I wrote 10+ emails to customer support helping them to get to the bottom of it... I now have a...
That sounds good enough temp wise to me, cpu isn't great but Ivy bridge is just hard to cool. Sandy bridge is much easier to keep at low temps but obviously ivy has a slight performance advantage per clock.... Good to know you were OC'ing the gpu too.... Skynet bios sounds good, have you ever...
I've heard crysis 3 is good but don't have it, I do have bioshock infinite so can give that a go
... I think I'm going to give the single 240mm rad a go with an aim to upgrading to a 280mm rad in push-pull in the near future... When you multiply it out, a 280mm rad is 36% more area than a 240mm...
Thanks for the advice KaRLiTos, Can't decide what to do, its killing me.... I could return the gpu water block and get sound proving for my gpu chamber.... Its separated with a 120mm fan blowing on it in my case (HP Blackbird 002). Or I could get a second 240mm radiator but it would obstruct...
Unfortunately its a 240, as I said far from ideal, long term I'll get a thick 280 rad which is close to a 360 rad or add a second 120mm rad but I don't have the time at the moment for so much nodding so I want to try just the 240...
Its a black ice gt stealth, hardly the best radiator in the world but its a drop in replacement on my hp blackbird. Using some akasa apaches which are a seriously good fan in my opinion. I can put back the 38mm deltas which came with my case if they are too weak. The deltas are 800-2200 rpm so...
Thanks, I will report back my results but it may be a few weeks before I get it all assembled and run the tests.... Dying to know how effective the rad will be...
Thanks for the advice guys. I want to cool a 2500k @ 4.5 and a 780ti @ stock with a 240mm rad... I know its mad but I want to try it before I go hacking my case... I think it will be fine but I worry a bit that a long gaming session will start to cause the gpu to throttle. I don't want to use...
Hi All,
I'm building a CPU + GPU water cooling loop and want a realistic gaming load which I can use to test its performance. I don't want to use prime 95 + furmark as it is too extreme.
Thanks, Richard.
I've come to the realisation that reference cards are generally quieter at idle in the real world as they only have one fan right in the middle of your case. Non reference cards have a fan closer to the back of the case which is easier to hear. I say this as techpowerup say the evga 780acx is...
I think there is an evga bios floating around that will set slow it to,drop to 30%... Alternatively I found a link on a forum saying flashing the windforce bios worked.... Its a really annoying problem, I return my card partly because of it and partly because of the 290/x announcement.... Still...
Thanks for the reply, what case fans have you, I only have three and they idle at 800rpm so 1450rpm just seems very high to be quiet. Also I had an 780 evga acx which idled at 1300rpm and I found I could hear it over the rest of mu case and it bothered me so I sent it back... Don't want to have...
Hi guys,
I've been looking for a 290 which cools well and is quiet at idle. The sapphire seems great but the some say it is a bit noisy at idle. The link below shows it running at 1300-1400rpm at idle which is pretty high. My computer is on my desk so I know I will hear it. I was wondering...
Guys, just found this link with fan rpms at idle. Obviously cooler design has an affect on noise but there is no way ~1500rpm at idle will be quiet, fine for gaming but crazy for idle. I returned my EVGA 780 acx as it idled at 1300rpm which was too noticeable..., how can anandtech say the tri-x...
I had some issues with gpu acceleration in Photoshop cs6 with my 7970, I had to disable it under settings.., might be fixed now though, can't check as im using one of my brothers GTX 570s...
Both those seem like good card designs... The 780ti oc'd is often as fast as two 7970s/280s so i can imagine that the ti is a better experience with much better minimum frame rates.... Its a tough decision... Depends on what the 290x performs like with mantle, i wish they would hurry up and demo...
Like gsync perhaps? Shame it requires a new monitor... If proper triple buffer was implemented in direct x it would be much less of an issue.... Perhaps mantle will help reduce the stutters driving frame rates down with direct x.... At the moment its nothing but vapourware though... 120gbp (for...
I know what you men but if they have a proper procedure it should be fine... The 290 windforce has dropped to £335 so that's £670 for the two of them, pretty tempting!
Haven't totally decided on NVIDIA, I like the sound of true audio, pun intended, I think it could lead to some cool spatial effects as I would be gaming with good quality pioneer headphones... And I'm waiting for mantle to fully decide....
What I'm wondering is that if I get some windforce cards, even if the top does throttle slightly, it will still be faster and quieter than the reference cooler overall... How noisy is reference 780sli, I don't mind a whooshing air noise but when is starts to get like a hairdryer it annoys me...
The vision tech card looks good but only has a 2 year warranty, also at those clock speeds I think two of them would definitely overload my Corsair AX850 Gold, elfear, what psu fo you have and have you ever taken a measurement at the wall?
