AMD CEO talks of long-term turnaround

Carrizo counts, as chips ship to OEMs at least a quarter ahead of retail release. AMD projected 32% margins due to the higher mix of Carrizo APUs (new release, higher margins) compared to XBox and PS4 chips, so lower revised margins now implies they overestimated Carrizo demand.

More likely Lisa Su is using the poor Q4 earnings and Q1 guidance as an excuse to clean house. Byrnes was fired after he finished firing. We all knew AMD's marketing was weak so a CMO change was due. Chief strategy officer is a dead weight position. So these are good changes.

How will AMD's Zen single thread performance compare to Steamroller's ?

Help buying a graphics card for next-gen games?

No power difference during idle and 65w difference during load vs a new GTX 970, let alone a GTX 760. That's less than a single conventional light bulb. The light bulbs in my pc room total 520w idle. The difference would be less than $5 a year. So buying a new GTX 970 over R9 290 would pay...

Exactly right. By rejecting the package, you'll always get the full credit back. I've done this many times with Newegg. Rejecting the package is not an RMA. The RMA is what messed this up.

For 2014, they are projecting cash flow positive. Are you saying that from the call, you heard they're projecting to have a $375M-$425M loss in Q4 on 1.243B in revenue? The company would be bankrupt today if that were the case.

Well, I hold over 200,000 shares now at about $4.35 cost basis from last May through this year. So yeah, it's depressing. May have to sell at anything at or above $3.70 tomorrow. I'll probably lose $150K, but enough is enough after holding this for over one year.

Obviously Intel is a step ahead on mobile and many steps ahead on desktop. If only OEMs would start putting SSDs in AMD notebooks, it'll do a lot to mitigate the negative perception of the brand among regular consumers.
