This is exactly what he's doing, that's the only reason he cares so much about the mfg date of items. It's a shame this scam actually seems to work for him.
I think the best deal for a brand new 290 is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125505
$351 after rebate and promo code (expired 5/12 but still seems to be working) + 3 games is pretty solid imo.
Custom 290 assuming you're going to keep it on air. You will probably see better performance on the 290 with the increased overclocking and cooling headroom. The reference cards are a throttle fest.
I like to watch youtube/twtich on my second monitor when I play WoW and I've noticed the stutter/lag/whatever for over a year now. IGPU doesn't help and it's present on both Nvidia and AMD from what I've seen. Tried all sorts of different things with no luck. It use to bug the crap out of me...
I personally think the 770 and 280x are very comparable cards however I would take the Toxic. The cooling solution on it is one of if not the best out there.
The performance I got with mantle was solid. The little 1-2s frames drops is what bothered me. Could easily be isolated to me as I've been playing with various other overclocks (cpu/ram) on my systems recently. All my time spent with Mantle has been in 64 man servers so overall system strain...
My experience with 14.1 beta and BF4 has been kind of lack luster on my 280X. When using the Mantle api I get a huge FPS lag spike every so often. Once every 5-10 minutes it seems. Not a huge deal but still annoying. With DX11 I am crashing pretty often. Went back to official drivers and...
Agreed, my 2500k @ 4.7ghz gets pushed pretty damn hard in 64 player servers. Is it a bottleneck? We'll see when the driver hits...
Prediction for my personal system is a small max fps increase and a very reasonable increase in average fps.
Yeah good to see XFX bringing it with a good cooling solution. Really good looking card too, probably the best yet. Would really of liked to see the XFX logo on the side light up as well but oh well.
Awesome, I saw something about the Toshiba driver posted over on guru3d earlier but they weren't sure if it had frame pacing/mantle support yet. Official driver has to be soon to follow...
The Lightning indeed does look massive. Only thing I don't like about it is that middle fan being a different color. Still prefer the aesthetic of the Tri-X out of the non refs currently available I think.
