    Ethereum GPU mining?

I am mostly a lurker / seldom visit this thread anymore, however I do want to note that mining is a way to anonymously acquire ethereum (much more-so than markets) and it's much harder to trace records for taxes and what-not.

AMD Polaris Thread: Radeon RX 480, RX 470 & RX 460 launching June 29th

I find it odd that they use board TDP as the comparison. 270x does not draw 170 watts during actual usage. It usually draws 120-130 Watts, no? I wonder how much power the 470 actually draws... maybe 80-90 W?

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I find it great that this thread has grown so large. I stopped mining more than a month ago, once I hit 50 coins mined. My power costs are too high, and with a single Nano mining, it isn't worth it from an effort standpoint. More for you guys, I suppose. :) I find it very entertaining to follow...

    Ethereum GPU mining?

None have come close to the market cap of Ethereum. Ethereum is backed by a great community and because of the way the presale was done, there is incentive for the developers behind it. Also to note, Bitcoin is suffering major issues in regards to time to complete a transaction. Currently...

I have shifted towards eth coin need gpu advice.

nvidia will probably not be worth it for eth mining as eth mining is pretty memory bandwidth dependent. I would buy up used 290s/390s on ebay if you're looking to mine eth.

$379 isn't mainstream. $149-279 is mainstream. $279 is a reach at that. Jon Peddie Research considers $299 and up to be high-end.

    Ethereum GPU mining?

Over at https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/5594/rig-porn-post-your-pics/p5, someone posted some details about his 96 nano mining farm. Each nano running at ~70 W and generating 22 Mh/sec. Pretty cool...

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I stopped mining with my 290x the other day due to power costs in my city... sold it on ebay for ~$275. It sold via buy-it-now within 4 hours. You can bet it was from an Ethereum miner as well. 290x's were selling for like $300 new-in-box only 18 months ago. The current hashrate is at around...

Anybody here purchased a FURY NANO that doesn't have coil whine?

I bought a fury nano at the end of February and haven't noticed any coil whine. My nano is also at the edge of my case with easy access to open air. I haven't heard it. I will note that it does run loud if it is in an enclosed space without access to cool air. Basically, the fan is quite audible...

My brother has 2x 390s mining. I can see if i can get some stats from his rig. I actually just sold my 290x as the warm season is about to hit me and it's already quite pricey to mine at 33c/kwh here in the bay area.

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I tested my Fury Nano a bit more last night and put together a small table comparing hashrates at different power settings. I also took at-the-wall readings for both sytem idle (screen off, system on) and mining. Note that for the below table, I used 26W at my idle system power (I have a 6700k...

ShintaiDK stated it incorrectly (simple mistake). They are 8Gbit (1GB) and 16Gbit (2GB) samples. I too thought the same when I read that post. ;-)

    Ethereum GPU mining?

The DAG is increasing at a steady rate. https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/Ethash-Design-Rationale 2GB should be insufficent by year's end, however with the switch to PoS (Proof of Stake) coming, there won't be a need to mine by sometime next year.

    Ethereum GPU mining?

You need to use the Power Limit slider. Best to use MSI Afterburner, and slowly lower Core Voltage (mine is at -72mV on a Nano) and Power Limit (mine is -40%). This will make you GPU downclock and use considerably less power. My PC (with just Nano mining) is 150w at wall power.

    AMD GDC2016 Thread

AMD did fire their Chief Marketing Officer in January 2015. You need to pull back a bit, as you're completely ignoring the context / message of this presentation. It may have had some awkward moments, however it was aligned well to GDC environment.

Polaris 11 most likely cannot be better than Fiji. It can however be equivalent to Fiji performance-wise @ significantly lower power (100-120W). Vega should be here between November and January, as HBM2 won't be available in consumer graphics cards until late Q3 at the earliest.

You were not the audience for this. Gamers were not the audience. The audience is game developers @ GDC. AMD is simply trying to show the real developers what they've been doing over the past 6 months and what they plan to continue investing in.

    AMD GDC2016 Thread

No new new info? Did you miss the part where they put up an actual roadmap? Or demoed a Polaris GPU to the public? Or emphasized big gains to come in the future? Sure the event wasn't amazing, however I wouldn't call it a bad production.

Maybe the 16.3 and above driver is being set to make it so miners don't take all the new Polaris inventory... ;-)

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I installed the new AMD 16.3 drivers today and noticed my 290x performance tanked with mining Ethereum. My Fury Nano didn't tank as badly. My combined was 45Mh/sec and after the update it was like 30Mh/sec. I reverted my drivers and now I'm back at 45. Did anyone else try this?

Funny thing about those 2 cl options is that they caused my mouse movement to not be fluid... if you notice this symptom, remove those options, lose 10% hashrate and not go batty with rage wondering why the mouse is skipping. Recreating the dag is pretty simple, just go to...

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I am using MSI Afterburner - to enable undervolting, a checkbox in the Settings needs to be enabled. As for power usage, I am using a Kill-A-Watt for my main system. It draws about 330w (35w for idle and no gpu installed, 185w for 290x, 110w for Nano)
  34. M

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I'm sorry I was referring to undrevolted, underclocked, and power limit set at ~ - 45-50%. This in order to get the most efficient mining (especially in California where electricity costs > 30c/kwh)

    Ethereum GPU mining?

If you're also going to use the GPU for gaming, I'd go 390 or Fury Nano. I bought a Fury Nano for mining, and when I'm not playing games, I have it undervolted, consuming less than 110W, and mining at > 20Mh/sec. The 390 undervolted will consume around 175-185W and give you ~22Mh/sec. I'm not...

The hard part of solo mining is you need to keep an instance of geth running, make sure you network is fast and working correctly, make sure your time is well synced (for better communication to network), and that geth stays running (it crashes sometimes). I have noticed that geth will consume...

    Ethereum GPU mining?

I switched to solo mining 3 days ago and got my first block today... mining with a 290x and a fury nano (combined ~300w). I was against the idea of solo mining for a while because it's so hard to know if it is actually working before receiving a block reward. What I realized though, is that...
