Sapphire 7970 Wont power on?

Took a buddies recommendation and attempted the ole reflow oven trick. Now I can boot with the card installed but isnt recognized. May attempt to see if its recognized for a bios reflash at some point here in the next few days but I spent more then enough time troubleshooting this rig today

Sapphire 7970 Wont power on?

I have verified the cooler is working (prolly should have mentioned that), when I hook up the card with a pcie 1x riser that ISNT powered, the fans on the card will run, but the card isnt recognized (somewhat of a known problem on the board, need to do the jumper thing) Not sure on the vrm...

What is safer & longer lasting storage

"Redundancy is good, Redundancy is good" Having multiple layers of redundancy is the best policy. Always assume that a drive *WILL* fail, not within the next week, but immediately after you place a file on it. Make multiple backups. I've learned this the hard way. But to answer your question...

Fx 8320 oc?

What kind of antifreeze do custom loops like?

There's no need to run antifreeze in a water-loop on a computer. If anything it will just cause problems. Just use distilled water and an algaecide like silver coil or something. Anything more is just asking for problems later on and will decrease the performance of your water-loop. Seems like...

Windows UI designer explains why forcing Metro on all is great for power users

The first thing I did with my 8.1 install was get rid of the metro interface. I couldnt stand it. To me, it doesnt make any sense to have that kind of interface on a desktop. Once it's gone though, I basically have no complaints with 8.1 or 8. I had to show my dad how to get rid of metro too...

What's the smoothest way to replace an older nVidia card with a newer one?

I always uninstall with DDU, Then go in with the newest drivers... If it's been a while (6 months or so) I take the nuke it from orbit approach and do a fresh OS install... But I'm on RAID0 so it just makes sense (its the only way to be sure)

Totally agree. No need to use anything beyond distilled water and something for algae control. Anything more and you're just making more work for yourself down the line. If you want color, used colored tubing.

Titanfall PC minimum specs revealed

I dunno why, but I just wasnt that impressed with this game during the beta. Maybe I didnt give it enough of a chance? I only played for a few hours and was left wanting more. *EDIT* More as in, i wasn't satisfied with the game, not more as in I couldn't stop playing.

Should I use AMD ATI setup for chipset drivers?

Totally agree, I use a logitech g35 and was working perfectly fine until I installed (accidently) the usb filter thing. I'd say avoid using the amd chipset package if you are on 8.1. In general I wouldn't recommend installing new drivers unless you are having problems / unrecognized devices.

Dye in water cooling

If you do use distilled water make sure you use a biocide or silver coils to prevent growths in the system which can be a real hassle to clean.
