nice ^...its not often that you can capture all 4 of Jupter's major moons (usually one or two of them are hiding behind the giant planet at any given moment)...and is that photo bomb our first visual evidence of a dog-like race of extraterrestrials? ;)

nice shot ^...too bad the moon was too far away to be in the picture...although you can tell by the moonlight reflecting off the tree that it was behind you and to the left...

next time take a really long exposure, or stack several 2.5-5 sec. exposures...i'm not sure if your camera will capture it, but there's a ton of nebulosity around the Orion constellation and beyond (Google pictures of Barnard's Loop). what you've got there is just the Orion nebula, the...

^ i was hoping someone got a picture of the conjunction this evening...great shots! and i like that they're not over-saturated to make the moon look full...that way you can distinguish between the sunlit crescent and the earth-lit rest of the moon, thus capturing the true effect.

oh i'm pretty well versed in the in and outs of MW@H...i was using the same 7970's to crunch MW@H then as i'm using now to crunch Einstein@Home. i never did have more than 2 7970's crunching MW@H at once, and my highest PPD for the project was 1.22 million...but i do recall being in a race with...

well the project servers aren't literally down...its just that we've sucked the server cache dry (check the server status page)...and of course with this project, who knows when we'll see more work. that said, this last infusion of work was a massive one (for this project anyways). i always...

it must be Venus...its too bright and not red enough to be Mars...which make sense, b/c Venus has been in the evening sky lately. take a look at the opposite horizon a bit later in the evening and you'll see Jupiter rising...

Ordered an R9 290

even if BOINC detected the R9 290 correctly, its double precision performance is dismal compared to its less expensive sibling, the R9 280X (which is just a 7970 repackaged and relabeled w/ a new name and slightly higher clocks). and while the 280X/7970 is no longer the double precision...

Multiple GPU tasks einstein@home

yeah hopefully you can find a driver version that eliminates that issue AND works well w/ Einstein@Home GPU tasks...if you have to come back to this driver version, just disable the monitor's sleep mode and just manually turn it off and on when you must.

Adding another rig

Hey Brad, i'm looking to downsize my crunching farm real soon (as in just after the new year). specifically, i'd be selling off an intel i7 3770K, a Gigabyte Z77X-UD4H, and Gigabyte 7970, possibly two. i'd like to offer it up to any TA crunchers before i put it up for sale in the FS/FT forum...

glad to hear that the invalids are gone. you won't know if the R9 290's efficiency can be improved upon until you try 3 or 4 tasks simultaneously...there is definitely a difference in efficiency between 2 and 3 simultaneous tasks on my 7970, so i think its at least worth it to experiment w/ the...
