Can I use headphone + mic combo headset on my 9 month old HP 17 laptop, (ak0xx), AMD 12 processor?

Contacted the HP support chat. They said the 1/8" audio port can handle a mic/headphone combo, the drivers are configured that way. The porta-pro uses the that 1/8" three electrode plug, so I guess I'm good to go. Thanks for the advice.
