this looks very powerful yet much cheaper ($500.00) than many of the new Graphic Engines. Anybody been able to evaluate?

I've been using the default Intel Core i7-860(2.8GHz) clocked chip. Has anyone had trouble using the auto-clocking offered by the Gigabyte smart6 utility? It seems that the utility has trouble loading at startup when I've tried it out and I want to make sure nothing will mess with this combo...
although I have a brand new Gigabyte motherboard they just release a chipset software upgrade. I installed it and reinstalled the program one more time. My advice is to look for all the remnents of prior installations to make sure they are removed!!!! Put in patch 5 and the titan pak and...
Core i7 860 running 64bit and Unreal Tournament 3 crashes right after the splash screen. Ran fine with RC but was using older hardware... Dont have time to give all hardware details as I have to run to work.
Anyone got a clue?
thanks for your time,

I've read a couple posts about being able to by-pass the upgrade install and use an upgrade disk on a new drive. Is there any method that is currently working (i.e. not patched? Do I need to be concerned with maximum partition size (2Tb primary)?

Could anyone suggest a good program for temp/voltage monitoring while playing
games that would enable me to pinpoint where problems are coming from?
I am also looking for a hardware monitor that could be constantly hooked up
e.g. lcd panel to look after temp, voltage, cooling, etc...
I have had issues trying to get my Opy 165 above a 20% overclock. The chip is kept (Zalman Water) cooled but I feel another motherboard a bit better at overclocking would inable the thing to fly.
If you've know anyone with this combo that has worked out better please let me know and if you...
I want to take 2 SATA drives and set them up in an external enclosure to achieve a Raid zero array for backups and external storage for my system. I would prefer to use USB 2.0 or Firewire to hook up the enclosure and need some help in setting up the hardware (anyone point me to an enclosure?)...
It seems very hard at this time to secure a 165 or 170 opteron with good stepping. Does anyone have good experience with the X2 4200 that sells for around the same price point? i.e. is their any room to overclock?
any feedback is appreciated as I am getting ready to build...
thanks!

I have'nt been able to get a Opty 170 past 2.4!
I have a choice of
CCBWE 0607 UPBW or,
CCBWE 0534 MPMW
right now and would like to know if anyone feels one of these or any 939 chip
in the $ neighborhood will yeild my improved results. I've already put the money
into a good...
I would like to know the combinations of opteron, motherboard, memory config. and graphics card that you "enthusiasts" have been putting togeather.
Of course it would be all the better if you explained why you ended up with the particular system configurations that you came up with.
Its...
can you put me in touch with the guy that wired the psu into the x-connect. I mainly bought it for the cable system and if its not to tough I would do the same.

I just put together a new system with an abit ic7 and P4 3.4e.
First, the thing seems to run very hot. The board did not come with the cpu bracket so I stole one
off of my old motherboard and wonder if I have it fastened correctly e.g. using corsair water-cooling I am running upwards of...
How would this combination work?
Abit IC7 (or IC7-G) with the 3.2e?
Would the overclock be significant with good ram & ps?
would it be worth it to go to another chip (considering you can ALWAYS throw money at it)?
Within the last day two sales-types seemed to lean this way...
If you could verify that voltage I would really appreciate it.
For the others, again, any advice on a good board/64bit combo that overclocks well (I love the way
the mobile XP 2600 worked out) would be great i.e. write up your experience!

God, its hell to grow old.
I mean 425/1.14 on the Geforce Ultra!
How about a suggestion of a good board (I am fond of asus) to look into the move toward the
Athlon 64. And then of course a good performer for overclocking!
thanks, all of you!

My rig is an A7N8X-e deluxe currently running an Athlon XP-M 2600 running at 2300 (184/12.5). The memory is HyperX400 2X512. I use a Hydrocool 200ex to keep the temps down. A thermaltake 560watt PS keeps a PNY Geforce 6800 ultra running very stable (245/1.14).
When I try to clock up it is...
Not being able to leave things alone, I had to get an artic cooling fan for my PNY 6800 ultra. The fan works beautifully and is whisper quiet.
The problem is the two card bracket that mounts the video card needs to be modified (i.e. holes or slots cut) for the warm air to be blown out of...
Before I go invest in some SATA drives I want to try an existing WDJ series 120G drive with a Rockethead adapter (possibly two later for raid0).
Since I want to connect just one drive do I just set the SATA switch on the MB, plug it in, power it up and expect to see it boot as hard drive 0...
These examples come to mind...

and

but, hey!
Lets get the names of those 200 watt power supplies out there that do the trick!
I agree that future 6800 owners better shop for quality. In my case (npi) the Silent Purepower 560watt
did the job.

I think that the suggestion of a 350 watt power supply needed when running a Geforce 6800 at "full load" is way off the mark. There are so many posts of people having to replace power supplies exceeding 400 watts to get these video boards to run stable it is a crime!
Does anyone else feel...
I have been completely mental for the last two weeks going through the same problems described. Running the Ultra 6800 seemed to go fine for about a week when the bluescreens and failures appeared.
I replaced an Antec TrueBlu 380 with a Thermaltake Purepower 560 and things have finally...
Overclocking with coolbits at 439/1.12 I am at 64c idle.
Does anyone know when you are pushing it to the temp ceiling. The display says it will ratchet down at 115...

Called and ordered one last night. Just checked and they are out of stock. Salesman said they were not going to get more pny stock in as far as he knew.

I would like to know the best chip I could put in this rugged ol board. I am using a Corsair cooling setup and have noticed that many of the old Athlons had come down in price. Anyones opinion on the best combo at this time? I would appreciate your help.
thanks,
jv
I got one of these when Micro Center was blowing them out and have been very happy with it. I got it primarily to see if the wireless signal might be better using my laptops built in Centrino "b" receiver. That is a big "yes" to a very high quality signal!!!
When I saw the price at TD (as...
FYI,
I've recorded on a Khypermedia DVD+RW at 8X on over 50 Khypermedia blanks (again, rated 4X) and they work great. They also seem to as compatible as the best media on my Phillips, Panasonic and Phillips players. My burner is about 6 mo. If hardware has remained the same, this is one...
Check out the cooling, upgrading to 512 (should be cheap) and see if they will bump that warrantee for a reasonable fee. Make sure that you like the screen and are comfortable with the keyboard and weight. If battery life is an issue you might want to check a centrino machine. Good luck and...
I have been able to successfully overclock my 2500 xp mobile to 2.5 but when I run my
favorite game I get GP faults (dropping out to the desktop) and therefore must ramp back
to 2.3 Ghz. What causes this problem and is there an adjustment to help?
thanks,
jv
Using an ASUS A7N8X deluxe 333 motherboard, I could not get my new Athlon Mobile 2600 to clock stable over 12.5 X 180. After picking up some Kingston HyperX 512k (KHX4000/512k) I was able to immediately run stable at 12.5 X 200. The old memory was some generic garbage that Frys was selling a...
Thanks for the feedback. I am contacting Jim at Coolcases to see if he knows
of a bit larger tower w/120mm fans to take care of my issues i.e. noise and temp
any other ideas are appreciated.
Has anyone seen 3R systems cases (ahanix) ?
jv
What kinds of full tower cases have you seen that are designed for 120mm cooling fans.
No power supply necessary.
Enough room for water cooling would be a plus.
thanks,
jv
I've been looking at cases that are made by 3R sytems in Korea and distributed via Ahnix in the U.S.
Has anyone seen this companies products?
They also seem to be coming up with a few interesting looking water cooling (interior and exterior) packages for the plug and play crowd.
I am...
has anyone experimented with peltiers or other ways of cooling the small reservoir or radiator in an internal water cooling system e.g. aquarius?
I am new to this and would appreciate your help.
