has anyone checked if amdkmpfd is installed? it's for system devices->pci bus in device manager, had to install manually (catalyst 14.9b2). I also had to install display driver manually because it was not there in the installer options. see if it helps.

That trick never worked for me (my connection is DVI->VGA anyway). I haven't had the problem since the last time I posted here. If that happens again, I'm gonna use the windows key again, see if it still works.
looking by symptom, which is similar to when a card isn't connected to external power (as stated by other graphics card manual, pc won't boot), suggests that it didn't receive enough power or any power at all.
do you guys have HPET enabled in bios and/or in OS? I disabled HPET a while ago and now I'm watching out for that black screen if that ever happen again. this maybe isn't related to the problem, but I also bumped up cpu nb vid because I should've done that a long time ago for a stable cpu...
