  1. Question AMD's next-gen Ryzen 6000 APU: Zen 3+ CPU, RDNA 2 GPU expected in 2022 - TweakTown

I dont believe we will have console performance levels on desktop APUs. AMD cant push this without cannibalizing their partners consoles. They will always keep it segmented.
  2. [SemiAccurate] Contra-revenue comes back in a big way at Intel

From the other thread it seems Cannon Lake is a total failure. So, the contra-revenue is to sell those cpus?
  3. Ryzen 2 Benchmark Leaks - Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X

That's my bet too. As 1900X turned out to be pointless there won't be a 2900X, so they will wait for some volume of best dies and release the 2800X.
  4. AMD Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G APUs performance unveiled

Just opened 24 .Dwg files, 7 Chrome tabs, Outlook, Excel, Primavera P6, Adobe Reader, Skype and the worst, Calculator. It's on 6,39GB of RAM used. You guys are masters of "storm on a glass of water" stuff...
  5. AMD launches Ryzen Mobile 7 2700U & 5 2500U with Vega Graphics

Just a full die with 2GB GDDR5 on HBC would put it much closer to this spec. They have all the cards on the table now, I really can't understand why this isn't happening.
  6. Do you think the once rumored HBM2 Raven Ridge actually exists today as a completed design at AMD?

I believe it does, the Vega HBCC can't exist just for a mere minimum fps gain on dGPUs.
  7. Threadripper BUILDERS thread

    Chrome tabs of course...
  8. AMD Raven Ridge 'Zen APU' Thread

Imagine you have $100-120 dollars for a CPU/GPU right now to start a build, but it need to have upgrade options. What you do? Buy a Pentium/i3, that was the only option until now. At least AMD now have an option to get budget buyers into AM4 platform, with the prospect of buying some Ryzen...
  9. AMD Raven Ridge 'Zen APU' Thread

Don't see how to connect those dots, since they are all different dies... The way I see AMD has a better mind share right now to release BR than 6-8 months ago, also, there's plenty AM4 boards on the market to acommodate Ryzen R5/R7 and the budget oriented R3/BR.
  10. Anandtech:Intel's Skylake-SP Xeon VS AMD's EPYC 7000

No, this is the super glue acting, an american invention. Seriously, can wait to see the next revision of Infinity Fabric, truly the most interesting part of Ryzen.
  11. Anandtech:Intel's Skylake-SP Xeon VS AMD's EPYC 7000

Beaten by a glue.... infinity glue...
  12. Anandtech:Intel's Skylake-SP Xeon VS AMD's EPYC 7000

Intel marketing slides and all this "scalable" talk says it all, they gave up the 1S market for now. On a side note, how tuff is for the reviewers to criticize the Xeons...
  13. The Ryzen "ThreadRipper"... 16 cores of awesome

AMD needs money, but also needs market and mind share, this drop is an indicator of what to expect from Threadripper prices. It surely bring focus to it.
  14. AMD X399 !!!!!

Time to drop area and start to measure CPUs in mass... Performance/Kg...
  15. AMD X399 !!!!!

Can an APU land on this socket? Not that it would make much sense...
  16. AMD Raven Ridge 'Zen APU' Thread

It's nice, but it's SOI, who is investing in it for long-term? AMD doesn't own fabs to do it for it's own... That's one reason they prefer to focus on open standards like JEDEC.
  17. cpu backdoor within a intel cpu?

That's not what he's saying and you know...
  18. For Gaming i7-7700 or Ryzen1700?

I really agree with gusk on every line except the bold part. Get some 2800-3000 CL15 DDR4 TridentZ or LPX and be happy, I bet you can find it for much less than 3200+ DDR4. You're not overclocking, not squeezing the system, not need to care much about that.
  19. Is Vega going to be DOA!?

Look, AMD gets a lot of money from their semi custom solution, and they got those contracts with GCN, a super foward thinking architeture for its time. I don't expect less from Vega arch, it maybe won't beat TitanXP or 1080Ti from day one, but this don't make it DOA as it didn't for first GCN...
  20. Does Ryzen offer a smoother gaming experience?

no no no... the general gaming comparison for Ryzen when it "sucked" was 7700K.
  21. I miss Tom and Anand

It goes back to the phrase: "if you can't describe what you're doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing". Most of the reviews sites today don't have a process so they can't truly understand what they're getting with benchmarks, nevermind explain what's going on. Anand was in...
  22. Vega/Navi Rumors (Updated)

That's what I want to see. Will finally two GPUs work as one? I guess that's the point with IF and it seems AMD will deliver similar integration on it's rumored X390/399 plataform.
  23. 1080 Ti? Wait for Vega? Curious what you guys think.

I think you should ask what to do for someone who bought a 6800K on January/February... they have the most qualified opinions by now.
  24. AMD X399 !!!!!

Yeah, I'm aware, but I don't know when it will go beyond Altera solutions...
  25. AMD X399 !!!!!

What I see is that the Infinity Fabric development gave AMD abilities to deliver this kind of MCM CPUs/APUs faster and easier. They said sometime ago that it reduced the development time of on-chip network from 6 months to hours. Can't wait to see what IF brings to Vega. It also seems that...
  26. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

There's a big difference between those 400 TeraScale2 to 512GCN3, and also, what from the first iteration to the last, AMD went just from 32nm to 28nm. If RR is made on the 14nm LPP from GloFo, it's a 55% improvement on size. Also, with scales from the better overall CPU, they can now develop...
  27. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I believe HBM on APUs are now more probably than not. The IPs are already there, HBC is working, Ryzen performance is real, the stars are aligned...
  28. Ryzen: Strictly technical

1 - Memory controller is undoubtedly the first that comes to mind. But from AMA they said quad-channel is not what they are looking for, so I imagine just better latency overall. 2 - Higher frequencies of course... 3 - Infinity Fabric has it's own roadmap as described on "Anand Review pt1"...
  29. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

On AMA they said it's "strictly CPU scheduling within the game" . If it was generalized problem we would be seeing it elsewhere, like Cinebench, 3dMarks, etc...
  30. Ryzen-A Fail for Gamers?

All sites just reviewed the gifts they received from AMD but didn't tried to truly investigate anything. Tom's saw that 1800X consumed only 56W with Metro: LL but didn't found it strange or tried any other game where the performance was lack-lusting. Anywhere else I read people not even show...
  31. Why does Ryzen 7 1800X performs so poorly in games?

Just found strange that you asked for opinions and then say it's just excuses...
  32. Why does Ryzen 7 1800X performs so poorly in games?

Pretty clear the intentions of this one...
  33. Ryzen: Strictly technical

Great work Stilt. This curve is paints a very nice potential for Ryzen on mobiles. Can you do one for ST? Results from some mobile CPUs: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html
  34. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

I don't believe in SMT bug, everything else is flying in multithreading. Even the power consumption is small on gaming, so the CPU isn't fully loaded. I believe it's PCI-E related.
  35. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Guru3D conclusion was good, because it didn't jump to conclusions: It's a new plataform, even performing at the top it has a lot of space for tweaking, just the way I like!
  36. AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Has anybody seen any news on mATX X370 boards?
  37. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

It has been a fun ride. Maybe they should postpone it for 1 month...
  38. Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

Intel CPUs does seem to have a problem with bandwidth... See, you/we can't separate right now what is a problem from what is a design choice. Ryzen will reign in bandwidth, and it does while having much more interconnects for Infinity Fabric.
  39. Coffelake Thread : Rumors, and Specs

The bottom: "Software and workloads used in performance tests may have been optimized for performance only on Intel microprocessors". Maybe they optimized Sysmark to get the best from the minor architectural changes, and that's how they got 15%...
  40. Intel's response to RyZen.

One of the factors for this Ryzen heat surely is nostalgia. Good to know head to head benchmarks are back!
