Seems like the Creative X-Fi problems are with Vista, which has other issues. I'm not "upgrading" to Vista till the cows come home.
Anyone know if I will have to toss out my Audigy2 zs front connector panel if I go with X-Fi?

My new HP ZV6000 looks poor outside.......lots of glare and not bright enough.
This is sitting outside under a well shaded canopy under the midday sun. The light from the sides of the canopy causes glare and overpowers the picture.
I got it from Tech Depot and paid for Brightview...

I used Mcafee 2 years ago and didn't like it then.
I don't like spam blockers either and I use the google toolbar for popups.
I may just spring for a 3 user Symantec antivirus....with rebates it's almost free. I'll need AV for my new laptop too.

from my Windows 2000 drive with all apps and data.
I did a new XP install on a new WD 160 HD. I re-installed the apps and copied most of the saved files, mp3's, etc.
Then I re-formatted my old drive and made it a non-booting drive for srorage. I defragged it and backed up my new...

Same problem here, You cannot access the drive without a drive letter.
This is so wierd.
I needed to get some data from that drive that was not showing up as D:
So I made a logical partition on my new C drive using Partition Magic. Then I copied the drive (that I could not read)...

the only available r/click option is to "delete partition".
I think I caould fix this with Partition Magic. Alas....my disk is at work, and my backup is on the H/D that I can't access.
There is no FDISK on XP. What else can I use to make the primary partition on the 2nd...

I let windows XP create the partition and format and 131 gig is all I get.....same thing when I creat the partition.
What happened to the rest of the drive?

Yep, the heatsink was not seated right. The thermal stuff was not flattened out completely across the CPU.
I cleaned off the surfaces with goof off and used Arctic Silver.
When I booted up I quickly went into CMOS to watch the CPU temp....started at 31 and rose to 37. I set the shut...
Be careful with Partition Magic if you do use it. It can be very dangerous software. It has caused me much grief...but I know how to use it now.
The partitioning tools in the OS work fine for creating simple partitions.

Do I have a mobo problem?
XP boots from the CD, setup starts, begins loading all the stuff and then stops at "settup is starting windows". That's the furthest It has gotton.
On subsequent attempts It don't get that far and stops much sooner while loading some driver.

Am I losing a noticeable amount of viewing area by going from a 19" CRT to a 17" LCD?
I currently use a 3 yr old Samsung 955df. It's a 19" CRT but I really am only viewing 17.5" diagonal X 14 1/8" wide.
What's the actual viewing area on a 17" LCD?
