Anyone know if if's possible to run 16 GB ECC DIMMs in an X58 w/ a Xeon X5650? Has anyone tried it or is running it? I've search around, but other than a few post saying it should work, I've not been able to find anything specific.
The Intel X5600 datasheet on page 57 seems to say that the CPU...
Is it possible to use Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Expantion card in a Z97 Motherboard? I've searched a few forums as well as a few searches on Google and came up empty with regards to using a Thunderbolt 3 PCIe expansion card in a Z97 motherboard.
Has anyone tried it? Did it work?
My thoughts (and I...
I received my 3 X5650 CPUs and I am not sure what would be the ideal 24/7 voltages including the CPU and qpi/dram.
I have one X5650 that can boot at 4.5 GHz with a 22X multiplier, but it isn't stable at 1.35v for the CPU and 1.31v for qpi. I can go even higher, 4.7 GHz, and it posts, but it's...
That's what I though, but the associate that was helping me said that it's not always the case and it depends on the promotions going at the time.
He said that for now there was only a select set of MB that were under the promo when I made my purchase. I told him I would buy the CPU and MB on...
For those that have a Microcenter close to you and you are looking at getting an ASUS Z97-WS, you might be able to get one for a great price.
First off, the ASUS Z97-WS is mislabeled on their system. They have it classified as an ASUS Z97...
While a few X58 boards were made with SATA 3 chipsets, most of them don't have SATA 3 and those that do don't usually perform much better from what I have read. For some of the better SSDs, that would surely effect performance.
Has anyone played around with an LSI SAS9220-8i in one of these...
In the end, I was able to get 3 X5650 @ $80 each with free shipping. They didn't want to go any lower (I had offered $70 each as my first offer). Since I will be in the US next week, I did get them to agree to ship it to me there so I would get the free shipping. I won't need to pay any duties...
Thanks for pointing it out. I will probably get a couple at that price.
Since they are going for $83/CPU, I am assuming that I should offer $75 per CPU, correct?
TIA!
I am currently considering purchasing an L5640 (SLBV8) locally for about $70 Canadian. I was wondering how it would compare to an X5650? I know the L5640 has a few things against it including a lower TDP and a lower multiplier.
From reading a number of posts since the December time-frame, a...
