I'm having a very hard time making a decision about when to build a new PC, as well as what CPU I should get. For some background:
I currently have desktop with an i5 3570k and a gtx 960, which is really starting to show its age. I'm going to be moving in a week, so I was planning to just leave...
I'm really looking forward to launch. From a performance standpoint, I'll consider it a success if it has better st performance than sand bridge and has more threads than has well at a similar price point.
I don't know how well that would sell though.
Back when I actually played Titanfall a few months ago, there wasn't anybody playing the dlc maps at all. So I'm guessing they did this to please people who haven't bought any dlc, maybe trying to increase sales of Titanfall 2. But then, I'd be mad if I bought the season pass...
I'm in the same situation you are. I think you sum it up nicely.
Maybe tell your friend that if he wants a worthwhile processor upgrade he's going to have to go x99? Since it's the only thing I'd upgrade to, but, of course, is prohibitively expensive for a lot of people.
I think your choices are bad and you should feel bad /s.
Anyway, OT.
I basically only use my rig for gaming. I bought a 3570k two years ago, and I'm pretty happy with that choice, as I haven't felt a need to upgrade at all, even though the total cost of mobo + cpu + cooler was around $350.
In...
I ended up playing a bit, I got a ton of kill trades, especially with shotguns (either using them or killing people with them). Other than that the netcode usually seemed fine
I've discovered I can get the Benq for $15 more than the Asus ($280) on their site. My friend has the Asus and has claimed he's had multi monitor issues with his 7870. So I'm currently leaning towards the Benq... although is multi monitor a widespread issue?
Also, are there any good reviews...
I'm currently looking at purchasing a 144hz monitor for CS:GO. I live in the US, and my budget is ~$300, although I'd prefer to pay closer to $250 if possible. I'd prefer to purchase from newegg or amazon, but if another reputable site has a great deal I'm willing to purchase from other...
Toms was the site that really first introduced me to computer hardware four years ago. I still read it, but with a huge grain of salt - that specific passage you picked out especially stood out to me as a sign of corporate shilling. I do try to look at smaller reviewers - I'm a fan of...
Yeah I'm just sitting here watching/reading reviews... the 960 is good? like what?
I don't think the 960 is bad, I think it's pretty decent - for an entry-level card. This thing shouldn't be selling for more than $150 in my opinion, what with AMD having 3GB cards available to $200 or less for...
Here are 4k benches comparing the 280 and 960 from wccftech. Obviously take them with a grain of salt though.
Original source: http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960-radeon-r9-280-4k-benchmarks/
Assuming they're accurate, the 960 certainly suffers at 4k from a lack of bus width and/or...
What do you guys think of the rumored $200 price tag?
To me, it just seems too high for what the card is. I'd just pick up an aftermarket 290 for $50-70 more. To be honest, I'd be surprised if this card beats my OC'd 7950 by any significant margin, especially above 1080p. Have to wait for...
I know some people prefer the new Thief to the old ones, but then, those are people who aren't a huge fan of stealth and didn't like the original Thief games to begin with.
So if you liked the older Thief games, it probably isn't worth picking up the reboot.
I agree, try a different OS or a fresh Windows install so we can completelyi eliminate software problems.
It does seem possible it's a mobo problem, it's, what, 4 years old? I wouldn't expect something to die that quickly but I suppose it's possible.
It's a shame they want to charge so much for extra ships.
I hope they either roll everything into one $60 purchase (Both E:D and SC) or take the DCS:World model where it's free but you only get a couple ships to start, and continue to be able to pay for more.
Disappointing how they're turning...
The biggest problem with BC2 is magnum ammo (and to a lesser extent body armor). As I've only recently begag playing BC2 for the first time, every time I get killed by someone using magnum ammo it feels extremely unfair. Neither BF3 nor BF4 had as huge a design flaw as that - although they both...
During my short period with 7950 CF (second card was used and turned out to be defective or something, so I returned it) and I had almost very good scaling and didn't notice any microstutter.
That said I was playing on 1080p 60hz and I frequently got >100fps.
You won't really see a performance improvement from a second CPU unless you're doing something that will leverage the extra cores, which, based off your uses, nothing will.
There is a case to be made for getting a second CPU because "why not?" or bragging rights. Or just for fun. But from a...
The 290x is a better card for 4k especially if you get two of them.
But it's entirely possible that once you get a 4k display (assuming you don't have one yet) games will become intensive enough that it doesn't matter if you bought a 970 or 290x, you're going to need a better card regardless.
Right now. I had a bunch of crashes with my 7950 on 14.9 (BF4 especially) and I reverted to 14.4 and everything was fine.
I don't think I've tried 14.9.1 though, that might be better.
That's what I'll do then. Hopefully the reviews are good!
If it turns out it's not so good, should I probably consider the note 10.1 or the tab s 8.4? Or
Pretty impressive.
From what I've seen, the A8X is on 20nm right? What process is the Denver Tegra K1 on? Because if it's on a larger process that makes it very impressive in terms of CPU performance.
From what I've seen Android optimization for the 32 bit K1 wasn't that great at launch. Has that gotten better?
I would assume it would be at least well optimized for the 64 bit K1 in the Nexus 9 because it's the Nexus 9.
Perhaps it's best to wait and see how optimization is?
So is it not really worth it to give up a tablet with a K1 to get the Note 10.1?
Also, is the shield tablet just in general not a very good tablet? Is it worth it for the price, or should I basically never consider it?
I would mostly just be typing notes for my political science class, most of my classes are math/physics so I'd keep using paper for those. I just want something lighter than my laptop for those classes
I'm looking to spend about $400 on my first tablet. I currently have my eye on the shield tablet and the nexus 9. I plan to use a tablet for gaming as well as some note taking in my classes (just typing, don't need a stylus), in addition to web browsing and youtube. I'd probably also use it for...
You'll notice the biggest improvement by upgrading your GPUs. You won't notice much by upgrading your CPU.
I wouldn't blame you for upgrading it though, I've been itching to upgrade my 3570k but there's nothing I see worthwhile to upgrade it to.
If you do upgrade your CPU, I'd recommend a...
Do you think it's likely it will use the version of the K1 with 64-bit Denver cores? I've seen multiple sources that say it will use the 64bit Tegra K1, but I thought that SoC wouldn't be available until next year.
I used to play with 3600 DPI, but after my friend suggested lowering my DPI I gradually lowered it until I hit 800 DPI. I've found I'm a lot more accurate, but (At least in BF4) I find recoil a lot harder to control since I'd have to pull my mouse down a ton.
Dear lord....
That is absolutely awful.
And to think I disapproved of my friend's prebuilt purchase with an FX 6100 (either that or a 4170) and a GT 640 for $500.
I really don't think there's much I can add to the whole discussion. Maybe there should just be some form of requirement on...
There will definitely eventually be a reason to upgrade. As more and more games support more than 4 threads, and Intel's 6+ core processors become cheaper, there will be a 6+ core CPU worth upgrading to.
I'm not sure if there will ever be a 4-core worth upgrading to, unless you really needed...
