Oops, I didn't think to mention the OS but I've got that covered. I also think your recommendation on the 7850 is spot on as I found this chart after I posted. The 7850 cards are hitting right at the 60 FPS mark in SCII (ultra) at that resolution. So with my modest gaming needs covered I think...

eMachines dual core (T4400) laptop $298 @ WalMart 2/28

I was able to get one of these today at a local walmart so the deal is still good if you can find them in stock. The link in the first post let me see which walmart(s) had them in stock. The only "catch" was that I had to ask for it specifically as it was not on display or otherwise advertised...

Can You Damage A Motherboard by Plugging Something In the Parralel Port While The Computer Is Running?

Oh yeah. I've done it myself on my old Pentium mobo. You really shouldn't go changing serial or parallel cables while the power is on... :o

Socket Cooler Roundup Question

What about a slotket? I assume the hedgehog would be too heavy since it's made of copper, but are the others (esp. the Taisol) too big/heavy as well?

Socket Cooler Roundup Question

I'm somewhat confused by something on this review. The test was performed on a Socket-A board (KT7-Raid, I think) but Socket-370 is also mentioned. Will all of the coolers mentioned fit both sockets? :confused:

More juice out of AT BX...

Thanks tweakr. I went ahead and flashed the latest bios and it supports multipliers over 10x so I should be safe with just about any PIII (with 100 MHz FSB, since my memory is only PC100.) This, along with an MX video card should give me a pretty dramatic game performance jump for pretty low...

My upgrade path..P3 700,Durons and DDR

I'm looking at almost exactly the same situation, except I have the BH6 1.0 board. I don't want to spend too much money, but my C300A/450 is way to slow! I guess I'm gonna have to flash the bios and see what multipliers are supported -- according to Abit's site, the BH6 1.0 only supports p3 600...

Thanks for the input guys. I'm still debating the issue, even wondering if a PIII might work in the old BH6 (revision 1.0) board. I just want to stretch things out a bit until we see what's going on w/ new memory and chipsets.
