I resisted too long... The capabilities of Smartthings feels like freedom, especially webCoRE. I was happy with Wink while I used it until things stopped working and Wink stopped fixing them. Apparently there's been an issue with Alexa discovering more than 50 Wink devices and Wink's recent fix...

Yeah, with Wink I had the Lutron remote controlling a Sylvania color changing bulb on the porch. We don't use it that much... for now it's just being turned on at sunset and off at sunrise. I'm going to try and hack the sylvania device handler into the LCBR's zigbee group this weekend to see if...

I'm 70% on Smartthings right now. We'll move the last 3 rooms over after I install the set of zigbee repeaters I ordered. Everything is working so far except my lutron connected bulb remote.

It's been a long time since I posted in this thread... Wink seems dead. Maybe Amazon will buy them. I.Am seems to be doing ****all with Wink. The Wink store shows all hardware including hubs and Wink branded sensors as unavailable. Beta activity has slowed to a crawl. It was a good run, folks.

Yeah... I was a bull for Wink for a long time. But support has been waning. Updates have been slow. The system I have setup is super solid, though. No issues for longer than I can remember now. But I am not enthused by this purchase. Good thing I just replaced my Relay with a mounted Android...

Surprising that people are having issues. I've now done the transfer from old to new a couple times and it was easy and seamless. Local Robots are super fast. Like instant fast.

Hub 2 is officially out.. anyone picked one up yet? I just got one from the local Home Depot and did a transfer of my second Hub 1... It went perfectly. Took about 10 minutes and then all my devices were now controlled on my new Hub 2 and my Hub 1 was factory reset ready for a new owner.

Uh.. it works like WiFi? Your question doesn't make sense unless your asking if it can connect to mobile data.. maybe? It cannot connect to mobile networks unless Wink has yet to announce that.

I can't seem to find the Wink Hub 2 on Amazon... Also, I just happened to randomly notice today that my GoControl motion sensors are reporting the room temp to the Wink App. So that was a nice surprise!

Meh. I see a side of the company you don't see. But I can't say anything about it.. which I completely understand will frustrate you more because it's essentially the same as saying "exciting things are around the corner!". All I can say is that I'm not terribly worried about Wink right now...

So it's likely that Smartthings isn't making much money either. If it weren't for Samsung's pockets, they'd be in a similar spot as Wink may be in. Interestingly, both my local Home Depots still stock Hubs and Relays (and Smartthings).

I'm actually not quite sure. The instructions that came with the product were very generic and looked possibly like they weren't the final version. They didn't say what protocol it used and I didn't think to check the device itself for any markings and I'm certainly not going to take my fan...

I had that situation in one room of our house and wasn't going to tolerate it.. So I got up there and re-wired the thing so that the fan was always "powered on" and the lights were controlled by the switch. Then I used a Lutron Switch for the lights and the pull-chain for the fan.

It would be terribly interesting if this were the reason Amazon passed... Amazon has one of the largest cloud server systems commercially available. Even Netflix uses their servers! Seems like it would have been a no-brainer in this case to take a good piece of hardware (the hub) and match that...

I added a bunch of Echo Dots throughout the main areas of my home... what Wink doesn't automate, I control with Alexa. I still need to do that video I talked about showing what my home is currently like with the smart-home stuff. Alexa is awesome.. And recently Google's OnHub added an IFTTT...

Those work on zigbee and don't require a server dedicated to their functionality like Spotter, PPG, Nimbus, and the like.. so probably nothing. They'll work like they always have. Worst-case scenario; they don't get any more firmware updates... as if door sensors and water sensors need constant...

I really like Nest products.. but I'll be damned if I buy anything else from them right now... not after what they did to Revolv and the stories around Nest's internal issues. I have more expectation that Nest will disappear before Wink, now... and probably take their cloud service with them.
