Yes, virtuadub will work fine. It's easy to use, just make sure you set the video to "direct stream copy" and everything else you should be able to figure out on your own.
I actually had a retail 32DDR and an LE OEM at the same time (I have since sold the retail). I benchmarked both cards on the exact same system using 3dmark:

4583 default...
I was very surprised to find that my Radeon looks much better than my H+. I started a movie using ATI's DVD player just to see if it worked for sh*ts and giggles, and lo and behold it was so much better that I took the H+ out.
Orchid Righteous 3D (Voodoo 1)
Paired with a Hercules Tseng ET6000 card with 2.25mb Multi-bank DRAM. Preordered the Orchid card online for a small fortune as soon as they started offering it. I can't remember what my motivation was, but I somehow knew the Voodoo 1 was going to be a big deal :)...
