Seems like I've heard this before, but is there a way to determine the serial number / drive manufacturer from the outside of the box?

That would be me. Bright and early this morning (didn't realize they open at 7:00 am!) I bought two for myself and the others for co-workers.
The mgr that rang me up told me that they had around fifty of these drives in stock two weeks ago, but "the word must have gotten out". :D (AT Effect???)...
According to my local Office Max (out of stock - argh!), the SKU for this drive is 20019524 (UPC 718037103471)
Guess I'll keep checking...
