Dell 2001FP HELP!!!!

Yep, i have run games at 1600x1200 with everything turned down and it still ghosts. I don't understand what could be different about my machine vs others who aren't having problems.

Dell 2001FP HELP!!!!

I just ran Driver Cleaner again and installed the 6.14.0010.6430 driver build. (supposedly the latest) Didn't help. Oh and i've searched all through the Advanced section and didn't find anything called "monitor scaling" or "use vid card scaling". *cries* Do you remember which driver version...

If you mean "Scale image to panel size", yep, that's checked. As for the drivers, about a month ago i formatted my drive and started from scratch just to be sure. No luck. I really don't think it's a drivers issue. is there ANYBODY out there who uses the 2001FP with the Radeon 9800 Pro...

Dell 2001FP HELP!!!!

Over the last 3 months i have probably reinstalled various vid driver over 30 times. I just can't believe the drivers are the problem as i've tried just about every version available to me. What is "Monitor Scaling" and where do i set that?

My god, please someone help! I got the 2001FP in January and everything seemed to be ok. However, when i started playing games such as KOTOR, BF1942, Counterstriker, etc. I get what i can only assume is ghosting. Everything looks pristine when i'm standing still but when i move the mouse...

What would you do? Dell 2001FP vs Samsung 213T!

I just got the 2001FP 2 days ago and am having SEVERE ghosting in BF1942 and Unreal 2. To the point where they are unplayable because i get a headache within 2 min of playing. I am using the DVI connector and have a P4 3Ghz, 1Gb RAM and 9800 Pro, so hardware shouldn't be the issue. I was...

Question about Dell 2001FP LCD

Ok, i managed to completely uninstall and reinstall the drivers, but it didn't fix the problem. There is still severe ghosting in games like BF1942. Anyone else have this problem with the 2001FP? I was under the impression this was not supposed to be a problem with this particular LCD.

Also there are two entries under Display Adapters in Device manger: Radeon 9800 Pro Radeon 9800 Pro - Secondary The first for AGP and the second for PCI. Is this normal? I attempted to uninstall and reinstall the 3.10 drivers but after i uninstall, Windows XP automatically reinstalls...

Question about Dell 2001FP LCD

Ok, i think i see the problem. Under the advanced settings, if i go under SMARTGART teh AGP sepeed is set to off and Fast Write is also set to off. Even if i manually change this to 4x/8x and "On", it reset back to off after i reboot. Which suggests that i'm putting it in a state that is...

Question about Dell 2001FP LCD

What do you mean by "Display Properties"? Do you mean on the LCD itself? If so, you can only change the Brightness...the Contrast is greyed out. If you mean by right-clicking on the desktop and going to properties, i did not find anything there either. Thanks for the online tool. That's great!

Good Network Management Software?

I'm in the market and wondering if anyone has some recommendations? I'm basically looking for something that does bandwidth and performance monitoring, accepts SNMP traps, router syslogs, checks to see that servers/services are alive, sends notification, etc. Thanks in advance.

What exactly does "Native Resolution" mean?

I see on the 2001FP LCD for instance, it says 1600x1200 native resolution. Does this mean the video quality is best at this resolution? Is this "ideally" what you want to run games at, etc? Does this mean the video quality is worse at lower resolutions? Thanks.

Seems the Viewsonic VP171b seems like a good bet. Is the Dell 2001FP worth the extra $400? Is the only difference between them that the 2001FP is 20" instead of 17"?

Looking to buy a new display....

I use my comp almost 100% for gaming and have been considering an LCD instead of a CRT, which i have always used. However, i have heard that LCD's have some problems with certain games because of refresh rates, etc. I am looking to spend no more than about $500. Any suggestions of either LCD...

PLEASE HELP - DESPERATE!

For those that care, the problem...unbelievably....was the CPU. The one thing i did not replace. I have no idea what caused the CPU to go bad but i replaced the CPU last night and everything is working great. Thanks again for those who tried to help!

Ok, i took the switch box out of the picture and unplugged the mouse. Still reboots itself. This time though at least it gets halfway through the setup. I've already switched out the DVD and i've tried changing the boot device to the HDD. Is it possible i have a short somewhere? Also...

Oh and i didn't use the memtest thingy because i took a stick of PC2100 from my other rig (which i know is working) and replaced the two PC3200 sticks. I assume this proculdes the memory being a problem, doesn't it?

Thanks for all your help guys. Ok, some updates. I tried bumping it down to 333 and it didn't help. Took out the 2 sticks of 3200 memory and put 1 stick of 2100 memory in. Reset BIOS to defaults. Didn't help. Took out SATA drive , put in IDE, cleared CMOS, installed 2000, still keeps...

Ok, with Windows XP, i never get to the setup part (where you set time, it detects hardware, etc). As soon as it is done formatting and copying setup files, it reboots and then never gets more than a few seconds past the POST without rebooting. With Windows 2000, it is actually different...

It just reboots, no blue screen of death. And no overclocking set. Tried installing 2000 and still the same problem. I have the hard drive on it's on power cable and the video card split off the same cable as the Cd-rom. I've tried just one stick of RAM and replaced both sticks with new ones.

As for memory settings, i currently have it set to "Configure DRAM timing by SPD". Shall i set this to disable? If i do this, the default settings are: DRAM CAS# Latency - 2.5 DRAM RAS# Precharge - 4 DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay - 4 DRAM Precharge Delay - 8 DRAM Burst Length - 8 Is that right?
