$700-$800 complete system for kids, would like suggestions

I would get perhaps that B150 Hyper that someone here in anandtech had a open box topic about. That one would allow you to squeeze a bit more out of the CPU with overclocking.

Need advice on a Gaming Motherboard

if your happy with Asrock, they have quite few very attractive options one being the Z170 Extreme that was mentioned before, but perhaps not the 7+ which is the top one of their Extreme series, maybe the 4+ is enough? Also a viable option if he doesnt overclock is their H170 Hyper series...

Ethereum GPU mining?

You might had bad luck with the GPU. Most cards are equal designed in terms of oc capabilities (pcb power circuits, power phases etc) but what would influence the most I would say it's the quality of the ASIC and then the operating temperatures. Later on the card design. Believe me , Ived...

Which motherboard for my new Skylake CPU? I've narrowed it down to 2 boards.

Actually the MSI quality these last years have been down the toilet :( If you want a good overclocker and solid board for reasonable price check the Z170 Extreme4.

How good is Powercolor?

Looks like they have a membership website, DevilClub for all who buy their Devil Series, they offer live chat support, special bios etc.. Very few brands offer live chat support! Have one Devil13 and it's the card quality is just amazing.

PowerColor used to be a budget AMD brand, but they improved a lot since then and now they have impressive line up. Have one of their Devil13 cards and the build quality is extremely good. Also looks like they have a live chat support for their premium Devil series, which you don't see almost...

If you dont overclock and you don't plan to have SLI on your system, H170 would be fine.

Choosing right X99 mobo for SLI build

If you don't want to spend too much on a X99 board, the Taichi 99 from Asrock looks pretty good listed at 219$. Also good reviews.

Who bought/is buying a Radeon RX 480?

Computerbase said the same, the card runs pretty quiet even in their OC mode. Also on the silent they actually run more power efficient than AMD reference somehow.

A Asrock Z170 Extreme 6+ has plenty and more and besides it's a excellent overclocking friendly motherboard.

Final Motherboard Selection

I would remove MSI from your list, their quality lately is well bellow average. The last few mobos I've got from them were rubbish, plagued with issues and then their support was equal to none. Check ASrock boards as they are build with overclocking in mind, they are solid choice when it comes...

Is there an AM3+ board that works assuredly? [update: it was the CPU!]

I guess the new GlobalFoundries makes this kind of stuff never heard before happen :D Same thing, the only dead CPU's ever was because of, broken pin from frozen CPU, moisture, but never from normal operation failure :D

Good mATX board for Skylake?

Well its like you say, basically your paying extra 50-100USD for the brand and minimal additional features. For sure the fan adjustments are nice to have, but with that price you'r saving off the board you get a awesome quiet cooler that keeps your CPU running on low temperatures.

Precisely , Roy sometimes should keep his mouth shut sometimes. But I guess he's just doing it's job, obviously they had to have in consideration Nvidia will replace 970 at some point and 970 replacement for sure will target 980+ performance. Now the question is the price. o_O

299USD for their most expensive GPU in their 2016 line up? Suuuure. Maybe the Polaris 10 PRO, but not the XT! Even the PRO I would imagine around 349 and the XT at 449USD, if they match 980ti performance... Nvidia will announce their line up first and until then I'm guessing AMD is in stand...

AMD stock up 20% after conference call! (52% in 1 day!)

And apparently even Apple is not safe anymore... -7% after earnings miss. The most important stuff like phones, tables, macs all dropped double digit in sales! If apple doesn't innovate in a new category I'm guessing not even long term is a good investment.

Asus ROG Max Hero VIII vs z170 Pro Gamer

I don't think you could go wrong with any of those two, but I would also perhaps look into this one as well. As much features, awesome overclocking and about 50$ cheaper in the end, almost for that H75 AIO cooler ;)

Besides not going to be called 390 or 390x If, FIji is not as good as Titan as apparently still not - Im expecting AMD to do pricing around 799 mark for the XT and 599 for the smaller Fiji which should come on top of 980. :colbert:

Is there truly a reason i shouldn't buy a 50 dollar motherboard over one that is 120?

There's always some "premium" aka marketing aka components added to pricier mobos. Now, will they last longer? its supposed to.. does it happen in the real life, I guess sometimes when mobo manuf complicate too much their designs over a clean and simplier PCBs even having higher quality...
