Strange boot, is it the power supply, or is this normal?

Yah I did mention purchasing the Antec NeoHE 500w. So I am now using the new power supply. But I'm still having the same type of boot as I did with the old one. I want to be clear that everything works great. I'm just wondering why turning on my computer is different than all the computers...

Ok, so I was using an Antec Earthwatts 380w power supply with my new rig. When I turned the system on, the fans would spin for 2 seconds, slow down to almost a stop, and then rev real fast and boot normally. I found this strange, and thinking it was the power supply, purchased an Antec NeoHE...

I love Linux!!! This was a great solution to my problem. Worked like a charm, and I was able to burn the files to DVD's! Haven't seen Linux for a while, it looks great. When is Adobe going to make their software compatible with Linux so I can get rid of Windows? I'm back in Winblows...

I don't mind the thread jack. I'm just here waiting for Linux Live CD to download so I can fix this problem. 30 more min...... If this doesn't work I'm formatting and starting fresh. I hate problems like this, it makes me feel dirty!

NU-Tech 082 Burning DVD's but not CD's???

Drat! How do I get Control Panel back???

Yes I am logged on as Administrator. As for running TweakUI, it is a Control Panel app, so it will give me the same message. I even went to the dir where the control panel exe is and it gives me the same message.

First of all, thanks for the help. You guys were right in assuming Win2k. EDIT: Ok I've just tested out the settings and they work well. I went ahead and took off all the 60Hz on all resolutions, so the default now is 70Hz. It's not a bad thing to have it at 70Hz all the time does it? Oh...

Refresh rate question...I know there's a way please help.

How do stop games like Unreal Tournament from going to 60Hz refresh rate? For example, my desktop is at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz, but when I go to a game at the same res, it drops the refresh rate to 60Hz. I want it to stop doing this, is there a setting or a program that does this? Thanks in advance.

Ok this is silly...who sells DVI cables?

MrHelpful, I have a Leadtek Geforce3 going to a Sony SDM-M81 18" LCD Monitor. I've looked around, and some cables are DVI-D or DVI-I or DVI Single Link (Analog) or Single Link (Digital). Little confused, but the cable you suggested has the right connectors so I'll get that. Thanks.

After a month, my new system is now complete! *sigh*

My 22" CRT is the NEC Multisync FP1350. My old monitor is the Viewsonic 21" G810. One thing about this LCD screen though, is that my eyes feel a whole lot better after 3 or 4 hours. I just watched Gladiator on the screen and it is a beauty.

Who has the lowest cpu/case temps on an Epox 8k7a?

Why won't my monitor go to higher refresh rate?

Yup I installed the monitor drivers, and windows reads it as the correct model. As for interference, I am 100% sure it is the power lines 20 ft from my window. It can't be fixed, but it seems as the higher the refresh rate the lesser the waviness is. It's at 120hz and it looks ok, but still...

My monitor is experiencing interference from power lines, and I think if I set it at a higher refresh rate it will go above the interference. And of course because I should be able to, and the fact that it won't let me pisses me off.:P

Thanks for all the help guys. It turns out that the software was the problem, so I am now using Adaptec software. Not sure why Nero isn't working because I was using it in my previous system which was Win2k too. I did go ahead and update the ASPI drivers, so I used all the suggestions given...
