Seagate a brand name i have heard that earlier also. the rate of failure is more. I agree. Even i got messedup with my 1 TB Seagate HD 3 YEARS Back. But seeing this ratio i dont dare to make my mind for this.

SSD - Better than mechanical disks. As far as prices are concerned yeah i may go less but i always consider it value for money. Most importantly frequency of failure of SSD are less as compared to others.
One really can;t predict the exact reason some fails because of manufacturing defect, excess of heat. Actually many causes. Just keep backup of everything.
