Thinking about it, I'm probably going to keep my current PC basically intact (minus the video card) for now so I'll get a new PSU. Thanks for the advice and suggestions everyone.
Finishing up the part picking for my first new build in a long time. Almost there, but I drive myself crazy over powersupplies.
i7 13700k
2*32 DDR5
6600xt (had to buy when cards were pretty expensive, might upgrade eventually but it's fine for my purposes for now.)

I know most people are probably interested in gaming mice, but I've been following this and this is the first time I've seen it under about 100 bucks.
It looks really good. I was kind of hoping the dimensions were a bit smaller--it looked smaller to me in the render. (I'm kind of looking for a case with shorter front-to-back measurements but with all of the huge video cards out there I'm pretty sure I'm out of luck).
Still seems like a...
Yeah, I'm going to be building here in the next few and if the reviews pan out it's on the short list. Really I want the Meshify 2 mini but they seem to not want to sell the black case with the light colored glass for some reason.
I have actually been looking for the same thing, haha. Nowhere. There must have not been that many produced in the first place.
Too bad. I was going to refresh my R4 with the panel and some new fans for my new build.
I used to say that, but I've been wondering why I can't keep my apartment cool in the Summer since WFH started. The PC running all day has to have something to do with that, right?
Aw man you're right. Browsing the sites the past few days I was hoping there's be a little mATX around .
I guess my main point of that meandering thread was that I don't really get why mATX (and therefore smaller cases) isn't the defacto standard for people looking for a mainstream machine...
So it's finally time to do more serious shopping for PC parts--and looking at my Fractal Define r4 and how it's way larger than it needs to be for what I need to have in it these days--started me down the road of looking at some mATX cases. WIth optical drives (almost) extinct these days, and...
I'm guessing most already know about this already and/or very few care--but I'm doing some shopping for my next build (first in several years), and have found out that most of the Gigabyte boards do not have the 3.5mm outputs necessary to use my old logitech 5.1 speakers. I've traditionally...
What's the general opinion on whether the difference will change perhaps this summer or so? I'm looking at upgrading in the medium future and perhaps ddr5 will be a bit cheaper in the next few months.
Just to follow up, I got a cheapish DVI-D-DP cable with the correct plugs on each end and it worked just fine. Lots of worrying about nothing I guess. :D
So I just picked up a new graphics card and I want to hook up my older Viewsonic card to continue to use it as the second monitor. The screen only has DVI and vga ports, and of course newer cards do not.
Doing some research I think the only thing I need is a DVI-DP cable? I think that's what...
That's some great advice and upgrade option, a good point on that, thanks. I had always planned to look into nvidia more whenever the time to get a card rolled around this time, but on matter of principle I won't pay more than a video card than I would for a cell phone. :D Right now this...
is there any marked difference between all of the different 6600s? my rx480 is getting more and more angry at me and I'm not sure how much longer I can wait out the current pricing nonsense.
Hey,
Just starting to go through brainstorming process of building a new PC to replace my current 2015 4790k setup. Of course designers of more modern cases have decided that we no longer need external drive bays--that's the way it goes, I suppose, but I've gotten used to the card reader that...

Probably some nice monitor deals too.
I've been kicking...
Is this a deal? WD Elements 3TB $59
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/983303-REG/western_digital_wdbwlg0030hbk_nesn_3tb_elements_desktop_external.html
I need an external storage of around that size, but if that's a fairly normal price I'd rather wait until December is in the rear-view...
I got the 1TB "L5 3D" (aka "the gold one") for like $84 inc tax. It'll be a secondary HD primarily holding images for lightroom so I think it'll be pretty good for that. Loading those off a HD is the most bottlenecked part of my work flow right now...
I went to a dollar store and got a mesh tray, kind of like one of these:
except black, turned it upside down and sat the case on it. my idea was so that air could still come in the vents on the bottom. Finding the right size might be the tricky part.
I guess I was thinking about the plastic against the metal heatsink, not knowing how hot it actually gets--though thinking about it, currently it's on rubber so what's the difference.
So I have a pretty old (five years?) xigmatek air cooler, which had some rubber belts that attached the fan onto the front. It is drying out and on the verge of breaking. The item is out of production. So what do people use otherwise? I'm assuming there isn't going to be a replacement metal...
I picked this up after going back and forth for MONTHS about getting an NVMe drive to boot on my z97 board. Did a bunch of reading, updated the bios, cloned my hard drive, etc. Everything seems to be running smoothly. I didn't even have to reinstall my OS which I assumed was going to be. I...
Interesting. I'm trying to upgrade my parents' ancient PC to get him off of Windows XP (been trying to get him to upgrade him for years) and maybe could convince him to go this route instead. I'm not even sure if his hardware will upgrade. I already got them a decent SSD to change up which is...
dumb newbie question--will this work on my Z97 board (understanding already that I won't get the speeds). I've seen people that say that they can't use it as their boot drive. Not sure I can guarantee compatibility because Gigabyte has understandably stopped keeping up with documentation on my...
Well whichever, haha. Thank you all. I just know enough to know I don't know much, which is that my older mobo won't be able to take the full advantage out of the very fastest out there. PCI 2.0x4 vs 3.0, I believe, so the very fastest drives will be wasted on me. I would imagine that a...
