Help installing Sata to Asus A8V Deluxe

I wasn't able to figure out how to install just one SATA hard drive onto A8V deluxe board. It seems like I would have to install IDE drive than use SATA as a secondary or something. Do I need to do RAID in order to use SATA? I do have 2 80G SATA and one 750G SATA. I guess I could do Raid...

DVD rom reads DVD, but not regular cd's

Benq DVDRW not supported?

Benq DVDRW not supported?

I have Benq 1620 dvd rw. Up till now I was just using the drive to copy cd and stuff, but just tried to flash the driver and it's telling me 'Drive not support!'. The management shows the drive as 'ATAPI DVD DD 2x16x4x16' What could be the problem?

Albatron AGP 6600 GT on sale tomorrow

Anybody know when more of the 6600 GT will be available? I was thinking to get 9800 pro, but I guess GT is better. I like the XFX, but I think once other cards are available price will go down. What is HDTV dongle mdahc?

When I had problem of sata not being detected, it was because I had the sata cables plugged into wrong sata plugs. I have ASUS A8V Deluxe and it has 2 sata and 2 sata raid. So you may want to make sure you have the sata cables plugged into correct place and controller for those ports. I...

Missing files during XP install!!

Well, I tried skipping the files, but when win rebooted it gave blue screen saying maybe HD isn't good or controller. I'm gonna try remove the memory and reinsert it and see what happens.

I'm installing Windows XP Pro w/sp2 to newly formatted HD's and while setup it said it could not find UlSata.sys, UlSata.inf, and one other file. Now can these files be added on to the directory later or does it need during the setup?

Well, after reinstalling SP2 it crashed again and now I can't even get to safe mode. Before getting to safe mode it goes blue. Is there no way of restoring now? I had another sata drive and I decided to install xp there, but even that's giving me the blue screen? Could it be the motherboard...

I just noticed that you can restore the windows XP to prior period and I restored prior to installing SP2 and so far desktop is holding up. I'm just afraid it'll turn blue anytime soon. What in SP2 could have caused this blue screen problem? Is there a good tool to examine the hard drive...

I still can't figure this out. My wireless laptop is detecting the ASUS wifi, but it can't connect for some reason. I still can't enable 'Internet Connection Sharing' in the main PC. Anyone have experience with ASUS wifi?

Need help installing Zalman 7000 to A64 939 board

I'm not sure what the black plate is for. Am I suppose to replace the silver plate under the board? Manual says to use the back plate for 754 board. I thought 754 and 939 was similar. If you've installed Zalman on 939 please let me know what to do with the black plate. Thanks in advance.

Zalman or XP-120 or Stock.

Seems like Panaflo has the most flow and most quiet combination. I see Silverstone 120 with speed control that may be better, but it doesn't give exact decibal at specific cfm. Also, with Silverstone, you have to grind out the corners like Global fan. I think I'll go with the Panaflo...

Does Dual Layer DVD writer only write on Dual Layer disk?

This may sound stupid, but I thought I saw somewhere that there was a recorder that is suppose to write in both type of disk so...I'm thinking these are only meant to write on DL disks. Is that right?
