I've had mine for two years and moved it once, no problem. Well, except for tightening it down too much so that the contacts on the base unit didn't. Have you tried contacting Wink support? They may have additional diagnostic steps and/or set up a replacement if you have a faulty unit.

That is the basic usage of any home automation system - they all do that. With LEDs, you simply just need to be aware that there may be limitations as some are not "dimmable" -- but there are even smart LED bulbs. It all depends on what you want/need.

I've got a pretty comprehensive sofware library in Java for Wink, v1: https://github.com/EAGrahamJr/jinks My front-end skills are abysmal, hence no full-blown application (like winkathome).

It only took a couple of days to get my keys. However, they're apparently having some issues with the v 2.0 API as my responses are coming back looking like incomplete v 1.0 data. I have an open ticket with them right now about that and, despite the claim that they don't support developers...

I've tried it - meh. It "feels" (very subjective) awkward using a touch-screen interface with the mouse. Plus, since it's running another instance of Chrome when you do that, it really sucks up your memory.

That sorta happened to me, too. I started it, and walked away with my tablet to do something else. Looked after it was back to non-blinking and the app still had the old version. (Didn't need to reboot) I kept the Android app running while doing the update again and it worked, so you apparently...

Your best bet is to call Wink support and get them to walk you through it. That way if they screw up and fry the Relay, it's their fault... :whiste:

I would say "it depends" - do you see a need/reason for controlling each light independently? If the lights are currently controlled by a single switch, then for the "independent light" scenario you'd have to remove (or otherwise safely disable) the switch to ensure the bulbs retain power 100%...
