Best video player and codec for watching 1080p movies?

i've been using VLC for years and have never had a problem with any file. not too knowledgeable on codecs, and since VLC has been awesome for me, i haven't even thought about checking out other media players for comparison.

skype has secret smiley faces

here are some skype emoticons that are hidden within the software. they aren't visible anywhere in the program, they're simply... secret. just spreading the word cause some of them are pretty cool \ funny. :P in the image is the smiley faces and below them is the "shortcode" you type to use...

Do you get really involved in the storyline of the games you play?

it all depends, sometimes mutiplayer outshines story mode and i just stick to multiplayer. sometimes the story is good and i'll get into that. it just all depends. like uh, Red Alert 2 had a good story line. Left4Dead2 had close to no storyline, so i pretty much kicked it on online multiplayer...

is it just me, or does skype have the best emoticons out there? i've used a lot of services that include smiley faces. and out of all of them (yahoo, AOL, message boards, facebook), skype emoticons are by far the most impressive to me. what's your take on them? here are a few of the skype...

fans of (hot) tea?

i've been drinking hot tea for a couple years now, but have always drank the same kind. (yogi's revitalizing energy tea). but i'm looking to expand in that area of my life. so, anyone here drink their tea hot? or does everyone here drink coffee??

anyone can become a proxy in the Tor network, i think i heard in the news about the feds having a network of servers in the Tor network, i could be wrong though. but they could easily do it, and then monitor traffic from their network. vpn is definitely the way to go. find a vpn company that...

How much is your phone bill?

$40/monthly, and like t9d, i also use google voice as an alternative. also has helped me keep the same number throughout the years.
