Dont shoot for this initially. I feel I got a lucky chip but you can work your way up with the settings to see what you can hit. I'm running a H100i Cooler.
You can shoot for an easy 180blck. EASY. Spread spectrum off, change the memory multiplier to keep memory to stock speeds for now. Change the coltage from auto to +240ish to start. I can't remember everything starting quite that low. Give me a few and I'll give you some screenies of my setup.
So my experimental setup with the MSI Big Bang Board and the 5675 is over. the 5675 bit the dust. I never did like it as much as the 5650 but it wasn't enough for me to make the effort to switch back. I went back to my old board so I could run all three of my R9's. I threw the 5675 in and no...
It came in an alienware but is branded dell. I do not believe that there is a difference. My board had an i7 9*0 extreme and I went to the Xeon 5650, its a beast.
Hey there. I've been using this above dell/AW board for a while. I tried something different for a few months and it just didn't yield the simplicity and results that the dell board did. The first thing that HAS to be done for it to recognize the Xeon is that it has be have the BIOS upgraded...
Thanks to this thread, I've run both the 5650 and the 5675 at 4.8 stable. Both are awesome chips and yield a great running PC for being as old as they are.
Anyone have any hints for troubleshooting a PCIE slot that appears to not be functioning? It doesn't seem to recognize anything plugged into it. I've tried blowing it out with air and several different cards to check it through so far. Nothing else appears wrong with the MB, I've been using it...
Bahaha, I can probably get to that this weekend. (12hr night shift right now so i don't even look at my home pc). They voltages are likely higher than most people would run abut my H100i is really doing the job to keep it cool.
I took my rig apart last night. Replaced the Stock Dell/AW PSU with a corsair 1200w. Modded a harness for the AW daughter and I/o boards so the case lights and vents work properly.
Also swapped in the 5675 and was able to clock 5.0 @ 25x on all six in windows on the third try.
All in one...
I'm still aiming at 5.0 across all six. Since my MB is limited in it's options, but has been a trooper nonetheless, I've decided to upgrade. I'm replacing my stock AlienDell  ALX mother board with an MSI Big Bang XPower o_O. To top it off, I've ordered a 5675 as well. I'll tinker...
I think I have the Cinebench15 thing figured out. You board allows you to lock into the 22x multiplier on you 5650 so that's what CB15 uses on your machine. My Bios will only allow me to lock up to 20x on my 5650 so 21,22,23 is exclusively turbo only on my machine which would cause my CB15 to...
Well the 5650 is supposed to be 22x4 and 23x2 at full turbo. Cinebench doesn't utilize the turbo, never has for me even back when I was just at 190 bclk SO its utilizing only 20x multiplier. Other benchmark programs keep all the cores lit up at the respected full turbo. I checked it while...
I'm really working towards finding the right settings for 220bclk on the 5650. I feel like I'm getting really close. I was able to cinebench last night.
Those are great voltages. For whatever reason it seems like my aliendell MB requires a tad more than others I've seen on here. These voltages I'm discussing now is just theorizing. I typically run 207bclk around 1.48vcore 20x with turbo enabled. Very stable for months no issues, I can get 211...
So if I'm back to mad scientist mode and can maintain under 75-80 while poking an occasional 1.6 I could be OK?
I was working under this theory last night and hit voltages up to 1.68 and peaked 81 running cinebench 15, scored over 1000 though. It was more to see if I could do it. Turbo on...
This may be a stupid question but I feel the need to ask. I've heard of people doing crazy things for cooling on an overclock, liquid nitrogen and so on. I'm guessing to overclock that far, they are really pushing the voltages through the roof, am I correct? Next question is, are high...
You're right, i mentioned that when its kicking full turbo 4 are the 4.9 and the other two are smacking almost 5.1. His voltages are almost exactly what mine are. Vcore under load is about 1.448 and it hit an occasional peak 1.54. Mine has been running with nearly identical voltages for...
Dad got his 5675 up and running over the past few days with a lot of help from Burpo's post. He managed to get bclk up to 196 and was still able to leave turbo on, temps stayed in the 70's while benchmarking. 4.1 at max non turbo, 4.9 @ 25x on four cores and peaked 5.09 on the other two.
I forgot exactly what I'm set at but @23x I'm running 4.89ishGhz on my 5650, temps are good voltage is okay but not too worried with a replacement $80 away. But its been running like this for months now.
Wow that's pretty impressive. But what about the comparison of the 5650 to the 5675? Is the 5675 the same chip with a higher stock bclk or is there more to it and would it have more OC speed potential than the 5650? I've seen people on the thread playing around with the idea but no solid...
So other than clock speed out of the box, are there any other differences between the 5650 and the 5670/5675 or even a 5690 that would be of any benefit to those of us exploiting their overclocking potential? Higher peak OC speeds wouldn't necessarily be a given in comparison, am I right in...
HOLY MOLY Dude!!!!! 17k post! wow! But yeah, HD video editing in the works for me with larger projects on the way. My build has gone a little nuts to the point where I had to purchase a supplemental PSU for my trifire operation
Actually it'd only be 24GB. triple channel, three slots only. But Thanks Burpo, its nice to know that I should have that head room if I was to need it some day.
Quick question, which dictates the max RAM one can have installed. The CPU or the MB? Obviously there are only so many slots but if going from an old i7 that could only support 12gb to the X5650 which can support nuts amounts, could or should I be able to take it higher with 8gb sticks instead...
I'm running 4.9, volts hit 1.52-1.55ish. Been running it for a few months, temps are good with my H110i. No signs of degradation. Alienware board. 5650
Hey folks, checking back in. I wanted to give a shout out to Burpo and the other contributors to this thread that has helped me get my 5650 to where its at now. It seems like I found its butter zone at 205Bclk (4.7max) and even managed to render a ten minute 1080 video project without issue...
