Also for those of you that like Wink but are looking for more powerful robot building, without having to go buy a ST or any other hub, I would highly recommend checking out the Wink Node Red setup, which can be found on Github (also a Facebook group). Been using this for quite some time now and...

dont waste your time arguing your point with any ST user, they are nearly a cult in my opinion, its very odd haha. Wink is a good DIY system and the good thing about every device they do offer is that it is supported. It's not some dev tinkering with some code in his spare time and when the...

Battery life on the ST proprietary sensors is known to be really really poor....somewhere on the order of a few weeks to a few months.

UPDATE: it only seems to control lights, in my case, GE link, Hue, and Leviton switches...but works flawlessly Guessing other connected device control (Garage door, locks, etc) is not far away.

not sure if anyone noticed, but Echo now control all Wink HA devices...linked it up to my Wink account this morning! Also, Wink is allowing for reverse compatibility, in their next app update you can add the Echo as a device, presumably similar to adding a Nest or Philips Hue.

both Leviton and Lutron make zwave switches, which when turned off, the Wink app will poll for status and the app can you be used to remotely turn them on/off. you should consider using GE bulbs in places that are not controlled directly by a light switch, for example a plugged-in lamp and put...

Hmmm...you may have made a mistake here...not too many users speak highly of the Tapt. I would have recommended Leviton switches first, then Lutron.

Well lets back up a little... I don't have local control technically, but I use the Philips Hue Bridge to control all of my zigbee bulbs which provides immediate response (may or may not be local control specifically) Echo now natively supports Philips Hue and Wemo, so it just works. Wink...

its pretty awesome as far as a BT device...voice recognition is great. Playing music is great. Controls my lightbulbs with no delay. Looks like Amazon just announced they are opening it up for developers too so I'd imagine control for things like Nest, and other connected devices is only a...

just got my Philips Hue Lux Kit ($80), switched all my GE link bulbs over it to, and now have local control of all through the Hue Bridge. Not to mention my Amazon Echo now control them via voice control as well! nice to have that immediate response through the app and also voice.

I get the feeling they wont be rolling new firmware out as frequently as before and Local Control will hopefully be the next big update on the hub. The last major update was for polling.

I agree there is lack of release notes and such, you just have to pay attention to whats in the app "whats new" description for direction on what to test. The latest beta just came out a day or two ago allowing for timers on triggers in robots..."if door has been opened for X secs/mins, do this"

not sure if you ever got a response to this, but you can no longer use IFTTT to control Wink shortcuts that unlock a door or open a garage door...security/"we do not want to get sued"

    The Wink home automation thread

no offense to anyone that prefers Lutron, but that is part of the reason I chose Leviton. They feel of better quality and feel like they will stand up better to repeated use over time. The Lutrons just feel very cheap to me.

Right now, IFTTT -Wink integration is only for Wink shortcuts and like 5 Quirky products as well as Nest and Hue. Specifically for Wink shortcuts, you can fire off a shortcut at a specific time, geolocation, sunset, etc. Also, it appears Wink has successfully integrated with Amazon Echo, there...

Between Twitter and the Facebook group, I've seen Wink employees, testers, and even Ben K. mention multiple times that its full steam ahead for local control. I agree come a long way. Sunrise sunset was a good update along with adding groups to bots and shortcuts. Adding groups to schedules, timers and some basic IFTTT will take Wink to a competitive level. Echo will just be a plus.

power-cycling the hub and/or the lights did not help? anytime I have ever had an issue with a light not responding or something, which I think has only happened once, maybe twice...the power cycling always corrects it. switch has to be on. Instead of smart bulbs in the ceiling fixture, you could save at least $5 per bulb on say a dimmable phillips LED, and take that $20 savings and buy a $60 Leviton dimmable switch instead of the $40 Linear switch. Then you have a single point instead of having to control...
