I can also confirm the fix worked for my already activated hub. Unfortunately the Wink App is currently blocking adding new Hubs, so the NIB I have seems to be unbrickable currently as it is not connected to my Wifi and I do not seem to have a way to connect it.

I was at .77, did not power cycle at all as I was out the entire day and it is still bricked as well. My father had the unfortunate timing of having me install a Casetta for him and when it wouldn't pair, I power cycled his hub. Of course this was well before Wink posted any information...

So does anyone have a hub that survived "The Wink of Death" yesterday? I am wondering why some would have survived and others would have died. It doesn't seem like those running with .82 were saved. If your Hub still works could you provide some details as to what Firmware you have?

Assuming releasing a flashing tool would put their code out in the wild, a way to update the Wink Hubs via Bluetooth from within the Wink App on a mobile device should be doable. And would make sense to implement going forward to prevent idiotic debacles like this from happening in the future.

You would think it should be possible for Wink to get an App Update for iOS and Android that would allow you to repair a hub using the bluetooth connection process and at the same time update the firmware via bluetooth to fix this problem which would save in shipping time. I would gladly...

I too lost a GE Link bulb for the first time post updating to .77 Not a huge deal to repair it, but having to reconfigure 8 robots is a bit of a pain in the ass.

I would say that Wink should minimally allow for local control of any Z-Wave / Zigbee and Lutron device. Those do not require any external cloud access to 3rd party api services. From a post on WinkWorkshop.com by MjnMixael This image sums it up perfectly

So I finally got to setting up my wifes phone. I installed the Wink App, created an account for her, and shared our Hub from my account with hers. I waited, and waited, and waited some more. Nothing. Nothing ever showed up on her phone. I waited 2 days. Am I missing something here?

+1 Electricity is potentially dangerous and sticking your hands in a box blindly without identifying wires and voltages is risky. In my current home, going from box to box wiring was different, make no assumptions as to your wiring, get a meter or hire an electrician if you are even remotely...

Wink App for iOS updated to 2.7.0.2 this morning. Nothing updated regarding better robot design and logic. Added support for Pella Hub and Sensors. There was also an update to the Wink Relay.

Realistically they should provide a means to use the device without the cloud on a local network, and only use the cloud for updates to device status when not connected to local wifi on a phone or tablet. It is in everyone's best interest to have config information stored locally on the hub...

The Chamberlain MyQ is pretty good. The sensors know their position and the software for the MyQ is accurate. Integration in to the Wink system is where it has shortcomings. To try and use it in a robot is potentially dangerous due to the intermittent lag.
