Yeah really, it was already posted here, that was a statement of fact. I also was never asked not to post it, and removed it when originally asked. And who was throwing anyone under the bus so to speak? You think they didn't already know it was posted here? Seriously?

I am not saying the fix was my idea but....
  3. The Wink home automation thread

Are anyone's GE Link bulbs working after restoring firmware on the hub?
  4. The Wink home automation thread

I can also confirm the fix worked for my already activated hub. Unfortunately the Wink App is currently blocking adding new Hubs, so the NIB I have seems to be unbrickable currently as it is not connected to my Wifi and I do not seem to have a way to connect it.

I am hanging on as well. Wink fucked up, big time. That is not in question, but for the most part at least for the better part of a year the system has been reliable compared to other vendors from what I have read. Wink may have its issues, but they are pumping out product, and are backed by...
  6. The Wink home automation thread

I was at .77, did not power cycle at all as I was out the entire day and it is still bricked as well. My father had the unfortunate timing of having me install a Casetta for him and when it wouldn't pair, I power cycled his hub. Of course this was well before Wink posted any information...
  7. The Wink home automation thread

So does anyone have a hub that survived "The Wink of Death" yesterday? I am wondering why some would have survived and others would have died. It doesn't seem like those running with .82 were saved. If your Hub still works could you provide some details as to what Firmware you have?
  8. The Wink home automation thread

Assuming releasing a flashing tool would put their code out in the wild, a way to update the Wink Hubs via Bluetooth from within the Wink App on a mobile device should be doable. And would make sense to implement going forward to prevent idiotic debacles like this from happening in the future.
  9. The Wink home automation thread

My unopened hub has firmware too new to root and it is bricked basically out of the box. It will be sent back as well.
  10. The Wink home automation thread

Honestly they need to provide a way to update to fix this without sending in a hub. Minimally on a NIB unit. You can connect directly to the device's Wifi AP out of the box, and ping the device at 192.168.0.1. It should be possible to make a flashing tool to unbrick the device and push new...
  11. The Wink home automation thread

You would think it should be possible for Wink to get an App Update for iOS and Android that would allow you to repair a hub using the bluetooth connection process and at the same time update the firmware via bluetooth to fix this problem which would save in shipping time. I would gladly...
  12. The Wink home automation thread

I too lost a GE Link bulb for the first time post updating to .77 Not a huge deal to repair it, but having to reconfigure 8 robots is a bit of a pain in the ass.

No Issues whatsoever with the AC68U routers. You can always use another firmware if you don't like the Asus stuff. I have had great luck with the Kong Builds of DD-WRT on the AC68U. I just installed a R8000 for my father though. Seems to be fine but it has only been a few hours. It is...
  14. The Wink home automation thread

Totally off-topic but... Primary router is an AC68U running DD-WRT Second router is a T-Mobile cellspot hacked to be an AC68U, running stock firmware and configured as a media bridge. I just moved and have yet to get a chance to pull wire to the upstairs bedrooms for the whole...

Are there any enterprising Android hackers here who have managed to tinker with the Wink Relay in any meaningful ways? I would love to be able to load up Airfoil Commander and Spotify(Premium) on it to be able to control my whole home audio setup.

From Wikipedia: Zigbee Radio Outdoors with line-of-sight, range may be up to 1500 m depending on power output and environmental characteristics[1][citation needed]. The output power of the radios is generally 0-20 dBm (1-100 mW). However I am also reading that 10 meters is the Zigbee range...

I am getting Wifi about half way down the driveway. I have 2 Asus AC68U routers. One in the basement and one on the second floor toward the back of the house interconnected wirelessly at about 855mbps. I do not believe the tripper requires Wifi, just Zigbee. I did pair the tripper while in...

The Hub is on the first floor in my office and right by the front window. I did not move it to accomplish this, it has always been there since I set it up.

I would say that Wink should minimally allow for local control of any Z-Wave / Zigbee and Lutron device. Those do not require any external cloud access to 3rd party api services. From a post on WinkWorkshop.com by MjnMixael This image sums it up perfectly

Wink is showing API issue for GE Link bulbs at the moment. Additionally I tried to pair a Caseta plug-in dimmer just now and it would not pair. I called Wink and they stated that for the last 2 hours they have been experiencing device pairing issues across the board and that I should try...

I do not want to have to deal with continually checking to ensure the devices I have connected, and new devices I connect in the future are accessible by my wife.

Additionally from the dialog in the Wink App, Sharing a hub will share all of the devices connected to it!
  27. The Wink home automation thread

    Tried that too!
  28. The Wink home automation thread

So I finally got to setting up my wife’s phone. I installed the Wink App, created an account for her, and shared our Hub from my account with hers. I waited, and waited, and waited some more. Nothing. Nothing ever showed up on her phone. I waited 2 days. Am I missing something here?

+1 Electricity is potentially dangerous and sticking your hands in a box blindly without identifying wires and voltages is risky. In my current home, going from box to box wiring was different, make no assumptions as to your wiring, get a meter or hire an electrician if you are even remotely...

Wink App for iOS updated to 2.7.0.2 this morning. Nothing updated regarding better robot design and logic. Added support for Pella Hub and Sensors. There was also an update to the Wink Relay.

Realistically they should provide a means to use the device without the cloud on a local network, and only use the cloud for updates to device status when not connected to local wifi on a phone or tablet. It is in everyone's best interest to have config information stored locally on the hub...

The Chamberlain MyQ is pretty good. The sensors know their position and the software for the MyQ is accurate. Integration in to the Wink system is where it has shortcomings. To try and use it in a robot is potentially dangerous due to the intermittent lag.
  34. The Wink home automation thread

Where are you located? I am wondering if Wink is using a CDN network and the lag is geolocation specific.

Did anyone experience incredibly long delays on Robots triggering this afternoon around 4:30-5:45pm Eastern? I have a tripper on my back patio door that turns on the outside lights when I open the door and let the dogs out, and while I did not realize the light didn't come on as it was still...

I don't have enough posts to reply by PM so hopefully this is ok: It's cool, I get it and no I am not upset about the post being deleted. I used to own blackberry101.com a large discussion forum which I sold to RIM back in 2004. Moderating is a tough job and I do respect it. I have been...

So I have been at this for a little bit tonight. Converted my PHP to jQuery to rebuild the Status Widget, which I added to the web control panel. I figured out how to hide the devices that had no real reason to show up due to not having actual controls. I built in some css classes to the HTML...

What this really needs to be totally kick ass is to be built using node.js or ruby so we can have authentication beyond htaccess. I am willing to invest my frontend dev time in to this for sure. Can you access light groups and shortcuts from the API??
