I had a feeling that ryzen would mark the end of x58 considering you can get a 6c/12t chip with 6800k performance for 210-220 bucks retail basically. It'll be sad to see this place die down more than it already had.
I came here about 2 and a half years ago and got burpo's help with my horrible...
I've had boards that cant do a full 200 on the blck which is why I like to go a bit higher, my nephews build I did with a 10 buck e5640 is like that and only hits 181 on the board.
The x5660 I had in my gf's system could do 4.4ghz on all cores but required 1.35v, which I feel is pretty good.
Each one gives higher multipliers, which is why the x5670 is the sweet spot generally. all core multi goes from 22 to 23 with the x5660 if I recall, same thing with the x5670 at 24.
On ebay they still command a pretty penny I imagine ($150 US seems like the average from the time of posting), but this was through local channels on the craiglist in my area, obviously doubt the guy knew what he had which is why I took advantage of it.
Also the 980x goes for like 2-3 times the...
Decided to post what I got setup as my gf's pc, its more power than she'll ever need but it was cheaper in the end to sell off her previous g3258/mobo combo and a couple other things and change to this.
Found the x58 Sabertooth for 50 local on my craigslist and got the x5660 for 55 off ebay...
Been a while since I've been on here, but I managed to get a x58 sabertooth off my local craigslist for 50 bucks :D. So I was looking on ebay for some xeons and a guy was willing to do 55 on a x5660 and I wasnt familiar with the highest multipliers you could get since I only owned a x5650 the...
Anything would work in all honesty, since youre just cooling a quad core and not one of the hexacore cpu's. but I managed to get one of the 34 buck h100i refurbs mailed to me so I know how good the prices are on those aio's and I have to say I'm happy with mine for that price.

Oh dear jesus I have no need for it but I want it so badly.
Anybody who lives in the ks/mo area or can convince this guy to ship, you'll be one lucky mofo.
Yeah I'm not really a rendering guy nowadays since I dont do any editing, which is the only reason i changed to a more per core performance related setup for gaming. But I do have my original cpu/mobo/ram still sitting around in case I do plan on doing something with it.
edit: Well also it...
Yeah i know :P
I only went with it because of the price and being able to overclock to get the same multicore performance of my x5650 while getting way higher single core and newer board features.
I actually moved on from my x58 platform a few days ago. Found an i7 3770k/Asus Maximus V Formula deal for only 220 bucks on craigslist, and after overclocking it to 4.6ghz the multithreading performance is equal to my x5650@4.2ghz but my single core score went from 123 to 167 on cinebench, as...
I found a guy selling this for 450 dollars http://kansascity.craigslist.org/sop/5044289848.html
I'm currently running a x5650@4.2ghz and was thinking this would be a nice upgrade since I'm running a ga-x58-ud7 and 6gigs of ram alongside it.
But does anyone know if this would give any sort...
I wasn't even a pc gamer till 2007 after I saw a church friends computer playing call of duty 4 and I was like I have to get in on this, so since then I've only had 2 computer builds.
My first build was a x2 5200+ with 2gb of ram and an 8800gt, then when I got into college 2 years later I used...
Yeah i saw that and looked at performance reviews for it.

It looks like its equal to your cooler actually and really shows the difference between what it can do for me compared to my 212, which is why I love that they showed...
Never have myself, but I had a question as to what people thought of this cooler
http://www.directron.com/ar03.html
cause from the reviews I read on it it gets near noctua levels of performance for the price and only being a single tower heatsink.
I sold off my broken p6t se on ebay for 35 bucks and the buy gave me this reply to as to why hes buying it:
"we are cheating with this board at Ukraine - here we have wery poor people and we can work on these board with Xeons. Also, hour of work at Ukraine costs very low, so we can repair...
Yeah I'm not sure how in the hell he spent 150 bucks on the xeon processor, tells me there's a lot of unoptimized purchasing with this build, but the beauty of it all really temps me as I'm still using an old ass haf 932 case from 6 years ago haha.
Anyone here have experience with the marvell SATA 3 controller that came out on the high end x58 boards like the ud7?
I know from what I've read its a pile of crap seeing as it was one of the first versions to be made, but I'd like to make the most out of my system and was wondering if theres...
Anyone have experience with overclocking the ud7 boards or gigabyte bios in general? I wanna get the most out of this board and was wondering if there were any specific quirks to them.
I have a evo 212 that I bought years ago that lags behind what i wanna do for my x5650 @4ghz, So I was wondering what a cost efficient air cooling or water cooling solution would be that would be a great step up from the 212.
My board lasted me for 6 years and I'm glad that I've run the platform, but hes right about the strength of hexacores in these boards, as overclocked it easily matches an i7 3770k.
cheapest 4790k deal would be like 360 bucks after tax actually which would be 310 if i sold the x5650, so even buying his board im saving 170 bucks, for me it just works out better money wise, especially having a 4 month old to take care of and my gf not working.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3527#ov
he has pics of them on the xeon overclcokers thread and theyre like brand new looking, might be refurbs.
Oh is that why the 4790k and other products in that same socket line are being sold real cheap now? because in all honesty my motherboard went out and a guy is offering me a x58 board so its either take that or pay the money forward to get a 4790k or 5820k. :/
I have a x5650 clocked at 4ghz, and was wondering how much faster a i7 4790k would be in comparison considering the heavy overclock have on the chip from its base 2.67ghz.
I mostly do gaming, but id like to still keep the capacity to do some editing and streaming work later on in the future...
had a r9 290 go bad on me while i was turning on my computer and when it came back on it wouldnt even show the bios until i cleared the jumper and removed the battery, so i switched back to my old 280x which is confirmed working from a different computer and now my computer gets stuck on...
