Wow C1, thanks so much, this is some really great info! Pretty much answers everything I needed to know.
Can't believe Dell fails like this at providing me correct information...the hell is up with that?
Hello again, thanks to the others who replied in the meanwhile.
So I wrote to Dell and provided them with my service tag. This is what they answered :
"Unfortunately, SODIMM is not compatible and will not work on this computer. We will be able to provide you with the DIMM memory. "
Is it...
Thanks for the answers guys! I'll check the service tag with Dell's site. Good to know SO-DIMM is what's needed. Don't know why it isn't labeled as such in the comp though, seems confusing to me hehe.
I'll report back once done.
Hi all,
I wanted to add a little DDR4 RAM on this notebook since this machine runs unusually slow and uses a lot of memory (when checking task manager).
Just to note, I don't know much concerning the different formats (SODIMM, DIMM , UDIMM etc) and compatibility issues. Some site previously...
Hi
I have a dell latitude 5580 and pretty much since I got it, it seems to apply some strange echo on ANYTHING that I playback on the computer. At first I thought maybe the headphone jack had a problem, but I get it also when nothing is plugged in and I am listening on the built in speakers of...
Hi all. So the HD is installed and running. Pretty crazy that it's written on the adapter box that it's supposed to work with 3.5" drives yet it doesn't provide enough voltage!
Thanks for the help, you guys rule!
Hi again,
Yeah my PC does have an other SATA port, the thing I forgot to mention is that the HD that's currently in the comp is starting to die (see my last thread on this forum) and it might be a pain to try to format the new HD through it. That's why I was looking into formating right at...
Hi dave, thanks for your answer!
That adapter is a vantech and it's marketed as being compatible with 2.5 and 3.5's. There's a dedicated power cable with it, so the HD isn't only powered by usb. Could that still be the problem? Last time I tried it with an other disk and it was working fine...
Hi,
So I wanted to format this new HD before installing it in my PC so I plugged it to a sata-usb adaptor.
The light on the adaptor is turning on, but the hd isn't spinning at all.
I read that this could mean it is defective. Anything I could try? I've heard about freezing it, but I'm not sure...
So I was using my music recording comp as usual, which showed no sign of decline prior to the incident.
At first, it bugged randomly shortly after I logged in. Mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped to response, clock stopped too, so I know it's not just the keyboard and mouse ports that had a...
Hi. Many thanks, testdisk looks to be exactly what I need.
The data that was lost was not on my OS partition, it was on my D drive where I record my music and there's no
temp folder on it AFAIK. Haven't used the partition much.
Now I just hope the software can dig deep enough to recover my...
Hello all
I deleted a bunch of .wav files (I thought I had copies of those on an other HD) on an XP PC and I even emptied my recycle bin afterwards.
I used Recuva and Stellar Data Recovery and I've been able to get some back but those 2 aren't able to recover 100% of the files.
What are my...
Hi
I have this old external 500GB capacity Verbatim HD from 2009 that's starting to scare me. It never failed me once to this day.
Last time I checked, I had 9 gb of free space. Then, without me deleting anything, it started showing 26 gb free place and now 33. I am totally sure that I didn't...
