Hi,
I am having a strange issue with my new A8N-SLI Premium - whenever I use either the optical or coaxial SP/DIF connections, I only get a stereo output! The speaker set I am connecting to is a Scan AV-6 (5.1/DTS) and I get 5.1 fine when using this set and the coaxial cable with my previous...
Friend of mine has an 8RDA3+ and cannot boot, getting to FF (fans, HDD spinning up) then nada, no graphics nothing...
Is this due to RAM incompatibilities or what, as he has tried 2 different 8RDA3+s with exactly the same problem!
Rest of System:
Epox recommended ATX case (400W)
GF3 Ti200 AGP...
Thanks :)
A friend lent me two 256MB sticks of DDR2100 Infineon RAM last night so I took out my 512MB stick and tried them - booted up first time, no IE crashing, nada... I think I have my answer!
I have been having this problem before, but thought it was due to my rapidly-dying motherboard and-or hard drive. However, with a spangly new Epox 8RDA+ and 80Gb Western Digital HDD (with fresh install of windows XP) I have started encountering the same problem again - what could be causing...
Well I'm thoroughly impressed with this Epox and its setup, easily as good as the Asus boards I have used!
(out of curiosity I took a magnifier to my replaced A7N266-E after I was done last night and found the one(!) fried connection that was causing all the problems next to the PS/2 ports...)
Sorry, I thought I had system info in a sig there, oops *ashamed*
Basically, I had left both drives on cable select (new as device 0, old as device 1) then not looked closely enough during the install process! I guess the reason for the old drive staying as C was the previous installation of...
I'm sure I've read how to do this but can't for the life of me remember! Just installed XP on new hard drive and spotted it has called the new hard drive (system drive!) F: with my slave drive C: - I can change the drive letter of the slave drive, but can't change the system drive letter! Is...
OK, got the motherboard, it connected all in fine and started second time! (The first I was overeager and neglected one thing - plugging power into the motherboard! *ashamed*)
I am currently setting up Windows XP but have a different problem - my new hard drive (system drive) has been detected...
Have taken the plunge and have ordered both which will hopefully arrive tomorrow, and am hoping they will work nicely together. I have seen some comments on these boards saying they have had no problems, and some where there have been problems...
Soooo....
For those of you where it worked...
Bumping this, is this a common problem with the 8RDA+ or are there more people happily using 9700s and this motherboard? If it's likely to come up, I think I'd rather plump for the listed MCP2-T option on the MSI K7N2-L (currently on offer on a couple of sites I use)...
OK now I'm confused again... looking at the info on the two boards, the MSI K7N2-L one says 5.1 audio sound (with MCP2-T option) but doesn't tell you which board you get as there's only one click to buy link? The 8RDA+ just says "Realtek ALC650E 6-channel full-duplex integrated sound", and the...
Thanks! :) Looks like I may go that way too in a couple of weeks then, with fingers crossed I don't mix up the CPU and case fan headers (Murphy's Law, y'know ;)). Just seen the review on PCStats and it's very well laid out for cooling too!
So which has the best audio then? Looked at Microdirect today and Epox is listed as 6-channel sound, MSI listed as 5.1?
On these forums the Epox does sound a pretty solid board for the most part and seems to work with most GFX cards...
Even if Gainward does release a 7dB one, Creative apparently have sole rights for GeForce FX in Europe so the jokes won't stop, they'll just get even more expensive ;)
Am a little confused (no surprise there ;)) over which boards are MCP2-T - from the point of view that USB2 and especially NVidia's terrific 5.1 onboard APU are very desirable! I know the A7N8X Deluxe has this, but what about the MSI K7N2-L or the Epox 8RDA+?
Thanks! :)
Are those prices including VAT? The price I was basing the 9700 on was the Dabsvalue one. The Ti4200 is currently £128 inc VAT (from Scan) and MicroDirect do the Sapphire 9500 Pro for £142 inc VAT...
I'm keen on the nForce 2 as I found the Asus A7N266-E one of the most stable boards...
I forgot to add VAT *ashamed*
PC2100 (to match my existing RAM) - "major brand" - works out at $80 + VAT (17.5%)
Ideally I'd rather not be fiddling with soldering etc, hence why I'm comfortable with the idea of a Golden Sample but said the 9500Pro over the 9500...
Does anyone know anything...
Thanks :)
Quick question - when I first got the A7N266-E I had problems with using RAM in both channels if they weren't identical... if I mix and match should I keep them on the two separate channels or both on the primary?
Does anyone have any opinions on the MSI boards? Not just cos they're...
I've seen quite alot of comparison on these boards between Ti4200s and Radeon 9500Pros and 9700s, so my interest is now piqued... but am unsure of compatibility and stability!
In the UK I can get a Gainward Golden Sample (overclocking joy :)) 8x AGP Ti4200 for about $20 less after VAT than an...
The only info I can find on the Epox 8RDA suggests that it only supports PC3200 RAM, is this true?
I am looking to change motherboard for an nForce 2 with MCP2-T audio (which I found excellent on my current board, the A7N266-E) - the only problem is my RAM is DDR PC2100 (512MB). Which is the...
*Bump*
Have now tried installing the previous nforce drivers (2.00) and same deal! Extracts everything, zips through the installshield bit then just as you think youre gonna get a nice big nvidia background and setup dialog it vanishes! What could be causing this?
The ones released today...
Has anyone else been having problems installing these? They unzip fine, then when I go to use the setup from the extracted-to directory it zips through the Installshield preparation then... disappears! What could be causing this?
Asus A7N266-E mobo, Athlon XP1900+...
After reinstalling XP solved my previous problems, I've been gradually adding back in programs and testing with 3DMark2001SE. The one thing I have noticed is that if I install the refresh rate fix (from Guru3D) I lose 3-400 Marks - all tests run almost identically, apart from Nature which loses...
Seemingly fixed now, after I formatted and reinstalled XP - 7400+ Marks on 3DMark 2001SE at 200/460 (6884 at stock speed), although have a loss of performance problem if I install the refresh rate fix - will post in a separate thread!
Things are getting worse :(
I had been testing with Medal of Honor and all was fine, booted up Star Wars: Starfighter and it said my card couldn't do the resolution/colour depth - at every resolution and colour depth it would offer!
Uninstalled/reinstalled 3DMark2001SE and it said it hadn't...
Again, thanks for all the suggestions :)
The Direct3D properties page gives me an option where I can select "auto" "always on" or "always off", but no matter what I choose it loses the setting as soon as I have clicked OK and gone back in again.
I have now reverted to the 27.30 drivers, but...
