That's just the way Nvidia's GPU boost technology works. As long as the temperatures are nice and cool, these cards will boost way above what GPU-Z says.

I haven't tried overclocking it yet, by my G1 980 Ti does 1367 MHz (starts at 1380, drops at like 65C) straight out of the box; ASIC score 77.3%. Personally, I've found higher ASIC scores on Maxwell/900 series to correlate with higher stock boost speeds, but not by too much really. Not sure...

In hindsight? AMD did overpay for ATi, their CPU section is so relatively poor that Radeon iGPUs aren't saving them, maintaining their own fabs would have been more conducive to their CPU development, Intel's process node and R&D advantages are giving Broadwell the headroom to clobber AMD's APUs...

I didn't say 1.5 GHz was 50% higher than stock or anything magical, but it (and the higher stock frequencies too) is way higher than GCN parts can normally do which is a crucial factor in Maxwell performing well above what other chip specifications indicate.

My point was that it's not 1080p... 4xSSAA on 1920x1080 is actually 4K, ergo increasing a card's workload by a factor of 4. It's not some graphic effect, it's quite directly asking a 750Ti to do 4K, not a reflection of a 750Ti's 1920x1080 performance capabilities.

I'm not taking any sides in any debate or anything, but the only AA options Tomb Raider has is FXAA, 2xSSAA, and 4xSSAA. That test is putting the 750Ti through 4xSSAA (and forgetting the "SS" in the label), which is basically 4K at 1920x1080, so... Just saying, that is not an accurate measure...

If it was never intended to be so, I really wonder what 1440p card recommendations were like when the 7950 was the second fastest card on the market. :P Anyway OP, for those games the 7950 will still do an excellent job even at 1440p and I would recommend waiting to upgrade it. for
