What proof do you have that the issue with the 970 was well known and people just didn't care? Or is that just added to support your "angry AMD fanboi" narrative?
I think that only a small minority is interested enough in the tech to actually visit the websites with articles about it.
Please post the links promising and 8gb 480 for $200. I'm having a hard time finding any.
BTW, please remember to use the /s. People actually thought you believed what you were typing.
If the 3rd party ones cool well, I think I will pick one up to replace a 780.
I was really hoping for a little better power characteristics, but for $200 the performance per $$$ is excellent.
If you can offer a better experience, of course you can charge more. unfortunately, a better experience is something nv has been lacking for a while. Expecially in their driver department.
Does Kyle at hardocp have to wait until the 24th to start crying about not getting one? :)
With the supposed larger availability, it will be interesting to see if any of the more biased sites/reviewers are left out.

1,600 Mhz... It would be interesting to know if clocking this high is stable, and what they are using to cool it clocked so high. 10 days is too long!
What percentage of the gpu is being used? I have heard the coil whine on a couple different 780s with a few different power supplies. I personally did not notice a difference between PSUs, but I was only getting it when the gpu competely pegged.
A little OT, but it's right on the money. Pascal is too similar to maxwell to have a kepler style drop off. At least nv is giving a little more carrot and a little less stick this time around.
I'm curious to see if 290/290x/390/390x start to age more now that AMD is on a new GCN.
If it can OC to 1.5Ghz and actually maintain that speed gaming, color me impressed. NV seems to be having a really difficult time with that and I wonder if AMD is going to have the same shrinking pains.
I have been holding off on replacing my 780 for a while now. I think 480 @ 1.4Ghz or so...
380X? was about $230 when it launched, correct? We are looking at 65% of the price and 7% more performance in fire strike. Probably much better perf/watt as well. I still think that's pretty solid.
It looks like it will be very good "bang for the buck" by the benchmarks. Im not quite sure what the number of CU has to do with that though... Either the card performs great for the $$$ or it doesn't. I'm looking forward to seeing some real gaming benches.
I don't really believe that he thinks he's correct. He's putting too much effort into discrediting it. If there was true confusion, I don't think he would be bringing AMD into it.
You are really going full tilt on the FUD. What do you have to gain from it?
If this card matches the posted benches, it's going to be an amazing product. If these have the same cooling and throttling issues that the 1080 FE has, it's a little less to be excited about. So far the rumors are...
You are putting way too much faith in everyone. Also, not everyone cares about having the "best" vr experience that money can buy. If someone is doing it on a budget, they are going to make sacrifices.
Link does not show that the tests were on highest binned polaris...
Looks to me like the author actually suggest there is probably a faster uncut chip on polaris 10
LOL, get over yourself. I'm not here to do your homework for you. You are claiming that it can't possibly be any kind of behind the scenes foul play. Your theory is no better than anyone else's. People see a 960 suddenly smoking a 290x and they are going to start scratching their heads...
I'm having a hard time understanding why affecting all of AMD's hardware is a prerequisite for any kind of foul play.
Also, How does nv optimizing their drivers cause AMD performance to regress from beta to release?
