I am thinking of getting a 1TB 2.5" drive for data storage, few isos and home videos. I want to go with HGST, both 7200rpm and they're similarly priced but other than the size does one have clear advantage over the other?
And is HGST better than Western Digital Blue?
I havent used any yet but I guess its gonna be Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas
Just bougt 16gb ram for £70
Cryorig M9i for £25
which leaves me needing a PSU (£40-£60 semi modular), 120gb SSD (£35) and a 7200rm 1tb 2.5" hdd (£45)
Case will be bought from scan for £45
Im doing another budget PC build. Im not a gamer but will do emulation and loads of video recording and editing. So far I bought 2 items:

Motherboard:Asus B150i Pro gaming itx
Ram: About to buy Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8 GB Kit (4 GB x 2) DDR4 2400
Case: Planning to get Thermaltake...
If its a faulty motherboard, it shouldn't switch on at all should it?
Just to clarify, without having an OS, it should still show something on the display right? Like press f2 for bios?
Hi
I built a PC last night and I get black screen only, doesnt show bios or option to go into it. Everything powers up even the keyboard.

Im thinking of buying a custom i7 5700 laptop from cyberpower and for ram would it be worth getting a dual channel set? I could buy 8gb single now then upgrade later?
Where does dual channel help?
Also is it worth going for 16gb?
I have 2 accounts, one with admin and other standard user. For the standard user I need an app to autostart when logging in. The app is CoreTemp and it wont launch because of this. If I'm around then I can launch it for whoever using it but that isn't ideal.
So is there a way to give it...
I have Windows 10 since launch and I have all updated installed. I have my recycle bin in bottom right hand corner but if I restart the PC or refresh the desktop, it will go to the left side. This didnt happen in Win 7 and at some point in Win 10 I was able to move them anywhere without it...
Ok I have the latest Rainmeter installed and I understand it doesnt show CPU Temps. I installed Core temp and the plugin http://rainmeter.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=18512 and placed in the plugins folder and its running in the background but it still doesnt how the temp.

I have Ultra Street Fighter 4 and noticed random distortion would appear in the middle of the screen, randomly. Also same problem in Dolphin Emu. I have the latest drivers for the GTX 950. This was tested on 20" TV and 50" Plasma both times 1080p in settings and connected via HDMI.
OK I have a Asus Maximus VI Impact motherboard and its in a bios bootloop. It was working fine all this time but there seems to be a bent pin and due it most likely giving me a post error 55 if I try to make my cooler. This would mean one ram slot would be out of action unless the screws are...
What's the best program to make an image of windows 10? I know it can be done within Windows but if I'm on a different Windows OS and want to install the desired image and vice versa.
Free program is desirable and I don't need features like encryption
Uh, no not me
Some of the excess cables are daisy cables so there are ports that are not used like sata, pcie and floppy. If they touch anythinf metal, would that be a problem?
My PC build working fine and I noticed it completely freezed when I remove the front panel lid and put it back on again (Thermaltake Core V1). I did a refresh of win 10 to be on safe side. But happened again so I gave a light slap on the right side of the case and it froze again. Its the side...
There is a pin that looks bent maybe, hopefully not snapped. Guess that could be the problem? Gonna have a look at it with a camcorder so I can fully zoom in
I have a Maximus VI Impact board and when I gave the stock cooler a decent tightening, I got Post 55 error and PC wouldnt boot. The nearest ram slot to the cooler would be out of action. I did end up getting it to work as apparently the cause was the cooler being too tight. Fast forward to a new...
OK got it on now but if I thighten it too much I get a post 55 error and the nearest ram slot wouldn't work. Little more research reveals that if the cooler is too tight then this happens as it did the same with the stock cooler.
I would like to screw it a bit tighter but the post error was...
I've got a Thermaltake Core V1 case and the front 200mm fan is loud. I've got a Maximus VI Impact motherboard and can't find a way to lower the speed so its somewhat silent. I may need a alternative fan so can someone recommend a silent fan. Its for a budget build so don't want to spend too much.
How would I exactly check that? First time building a PC. Here is the standoffs on my case
Im using an MSI GTX 950 gfx card which uses a 6pin connector I believe. I tried replugging all the power cables from the psu to the board but no dice
Yesterday I took my motherboard out to fit a new cooler and tested it outside of the case and it worked fine with a PC game. Installed new graphics card and I was using anti static strap throughout. It had all the components on but oitside the case. I then put it in my new itx case (Thermaltake...
I have the Maximus VI Impact and a Zalman CNPS8900 cooler and it doesn't fit flush. Its either I lose 1 ram stick or take off the heatsink. Is it safe to do so?
I have an Asus Maximus VI Impact motherboard and I fitted the Zalman CNPS8900 cooler http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=468 and when I boot it, immediately coretemp reads 80+ going upto 95+. Sometimes it wont boot because it of temp and asks to go in bios. It was a real...
Im gonna go with this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-CNPS8900-Quiet-Performance-Technology/dp/B0077POH8M/ref=pd_rhf_dp_p_img_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0FQHDGT88A9SATM6Y6QF
from most reviews seems good and doesnt interfere with any components
so the psu intake fan should be sucking air out of the cpu fan i.e. facing the mobo?
And that cooler is abit expensive and apparently doesnt come with a fan so I really need to buy something today
