    Timer for wall switch?

I took a second look and decided that this not a no brainer solution. A motor is used yo push the the light switch on and off. The unit is installed over a swith and does not use house power. Question what powers the motor and ucontroller? Batteries...which I would personally find a pain in the...

    Timer for wall switch?

I just looked at the Autochron. Although it is larger than a spst light switch and could cover 2 switch positions I think it iS a no brainer solution that would be much easier to implement than my "AUTO BRIGHT" design.

    Timer for wall switch?

Many years ago I designed a security lighting system that I called "AUTO BRIGHT"for my home. These were the features: 1.It would remain off until early evening. This condition was adjustable. 2. When I left my home at night I pushed a switch which turned outside lights on Which timed off...

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

SOFTengCOMPelec: Thanks for taking the time to make suggestions. I agree, analog simulators can raise false expectations. Bob Pease (National Semiconductors....deceased) cautioned against expecting to see the same results in hardware as seen in a simulation. Wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a...

Car overheating when I press gas. Cools when idle or park???

If you have a temperature gauge, make sure temp stays in the safe range while you drive. Better than a visual check of hoses would be a radiator pressure check. If leaking from a loose connection or pin hole that would find the problem. If oil is not milky and coolant is full I doubt you are...

Car overheating when I press gas. Cools when idle or park???

I missed that you said you have plenty of coolant in the system - maybe no overheat problem from that then.

Car overheating when I press gas. Cools when idle or park???

What you have described sounds like an overload condition in an electronic circuit. If the circuit is lightly loaded (like low RPM - your engine running in idle) then it does not overheat but when it is made to produce a higher output (like driving your car - higher RPM) it starts to overheat...

    Dell Inspiron 570 Boot Trouble

Before you go one step further, if you have not done so, please backup all of your "valuables". I am running a Dell Vostro 470 and suggest you open your machine up and thoroughly remove all dust. Using a small artists' paint brush with soft bristles and a vacuum cleaner, clean everything in...

Thickening shaped metal foil by electroplating

I worked as a Quality Control Inspector for the U.S. government and had assignments that require me to witness electroplating processes being applied to a product being sold to the government by a company. What I recall is that an item to be plated went through a cleaning process before the...

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

Hello SOFTengCOMPelec, Thanks for your reply. You offered some interesting thoughts on how we might accomplish the results digitally. For example PLL multiplication of 14000.01 Hz/14000Hz by say 10^3 would yield a much friendlier difference of 10Hz (14,000010 - 14MHz) but what uC clock speed and...

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

Hello Wiliam Gaatjes, thanks for your input. I have puttered around with the CD4046 to get a feel for PLLs. I think someone in the LTSpice chat group (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/LTspice/info?prop=eupdate) has uploaded a 4046 circuit for LTSpiceIV. Sounds like you have a pretty good...

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

Thanks Harvey, Spice is a nice clean environment, especially when you don't add real world influences, which I have not. I have parts on order and will build the circuit and hope it can duplicate at least some of my spice results.

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

Hello sm625, thanks for replying. Yes, I know the scheme you mentioned has been around for ages but I still believe my design has merit....saleable?, better or cheaper than other solutions? or just as a curiosity worth hanging on my lab wall?, I don't know yet. A new simulation indicates that...

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

Harvey, thanks for your reply. I know most things have gone digital but I'm hoping :), to find a niche for this circuit which is related to my analog integrator and pulse stretcher/timer circuits that use no reactive components. I wont quit dreaming, I love creating. Since it sounds as though...

A Two Frequency Analog Discriminator - Worth Pursuing?

I have simulated an analog circuit using LTSpiceIV which indicates that it can determine which of 2 square waves of equal amplitude is higher in frequency. The circuit lights an A_High or B_High LED. Some results are as follows: SIG_A SIG_B RESULTS RETURNED IN 1Hz...
