Many motherboards will feed 6700K higher voltage than necessary. My cpu will take 1.27V on default settings, which is enough to run at 4,5GHz. But if you don't need to exceed default clocks, you can manually lower decrease voltage to something like 1.12V. Test for stability obviously and enjoy...
Numbering scheme never made sense in the first place. Not when it was letter and 4 digits, then changed to 3 digits then back to 4 with iX in front.
At least at one point if name had Q in it it was quad core and E was dual core.
Now you could guess i3 was dual core with HT i5 was quad and i7...
I want to draw an analogy.
Rockets are awfully inefficient at flying people somewhere compared to jetliners. Yet you need a rocket to get to the orbit and no jet can even go close.
Gaming rig is built for max fps. Yea you could get 20 fps with fairly low power draw, maybe integrated GPU in a...
Thats the peculiarity of lbm.470 test. It has been shown before to scale negatively beyond 2 threads. Something to do with concurrent memory writing.
Look at slides
These guys develop software to deal with this kind of anomalous program behaviour.
Skylake eliminated some other bottleneck in...
Hold your horses
There is no inverse hyperthreading
The test in question (470.lbm) is very demanding for memory bandwidth. To the extent that there is only enough bandwidth for 1 thread. And every subsequent thread is slowed by the factor of 2 in memory starvation conditions.
Skylake has more...
Spcr.com had such great things to say about mounting mechanism and performance of Scythe Ninja 4 that i bought it for my skylake build
Cant comment yet, still sits in the box. But i have Ninja 3 on my Sandy and it served me well. No wiggle of course
I suggest Skylake 6600K... and overclock it!
Whatever advantage in IPC it will come handy.

If push comes to shove you can always undervolt. AT and couple other reviews noted that 6700K can run stock speeds at much lower volts than default. Drop 0.15V from stock and it'll be cool as a cucumber
