In my limited understand, DMI is the interconnect between the CPU and the southboard / PCH. 2GB/s in 2.0 vs 3.93 GB/s in 3.0. x4 links for both. These mapping perfectly to the link/channel speeds for PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0 respectively in an x4 configuration. Thus the CPU has a PCI-E 2.0x4 or 3.0x4...
I updated my post -- to make clear that I was specifically answering the original question which was - "do satellite phones call 911 without a service plan?"
Cell phones are a different matter entirely, and are regulated differently.
@whm1974 - I thought they had decided to go with just PCIe Optane storage for now? Or is that the point of 'native' support - to be able to have DIMM sticks?
--- Are they saying the release is January do you all know?
I'm not NEEDING a computer. Just badly wanting one / and I'm wondering whether the 200 series chipset is anything worth waiting for? The Kaby Lake CPUs are up and coming and I hold out, I'm just not sure whether I want to... But if the chipset is coming in tandem in January, then I can be...
I know this is long dead, and I'm not a necromancer I swear, but this was one of the first results in just the same query [and I've been on/love Anandtech for a while]...
So.

I am without a desktop at the moment, but am hardly home currently to care. I can make it for a few weeks maybe months and be alright. That said, I jumped the gun and bought a i7-6800k, thinking I was going to build a new machine, now I'm having second thoughts with the IDC coming up next week...
When comparing i7-6700k vs. 6800k what usage scenarios would you consider for one being better than the other? I don't mind spending the money going to the 6800k, but I want to make sure it is worth it.
I spend most of my time doing programming, and therefor also have a million associated...
Hello, I've been coming to anandtech since I was in Jr High! over 15 years, and had never joined the forums, always read component reviews to build computers.
Now I'm a Network Infrastructure Engineer at a gaming company, after having owned an ISP for some time.
Love Anandtech!
