I've just used rubbing alcohol or acetone and works great. It also evaporates pretty fast. I just dip a little bit of a paper rag into the acetone and wipe.

I like the Corsair. I've been running dual GTX 660 and now a GTX 980Ti with a Seasonic X650 with no problems, so you could definitely drop down to the next lower wattage power supply if that helps with your budget.
I would 100% recommend a g-sync monitor if you do moderate to heavy gaming. However, for me an IPS panel is more important, even with the IPS glow. Unfortunately what you want "1440p/IPS/g-sync" is well above $500.
