I don't think laptops are going anywhere. Laptop is still far superior to both smartphones and tablets. Smartphones and tablets have their limitations, for example there just is no substitute for the FULL qwerty "traditional" keyboard. That's just me though, tapping on tiny letters on a screen...

I'm writing this from my "trusty" Lenovo core i3 3110m 2012-era laptop. It's still humming along just great despite my heavy usage. It is my workhorse for everyday non-important tasks, light gaming, printing, etc and I have it on 10-13 hours every single day. It can even play Warlords of Draenor...

I noticed this as well, and not just "Christmas sales" but also the so-called "Black Friday" tech sale back in November as well. In both cases, I didn't see anything that made me go "wow! OMG!!1" or "time to bust out the credit card!!". These sales ain't as exciting as they used to be. Instead...

How does the stock cooler for i5-6400 and i5-6500 stack up? Does it deliver "acceptable" cooling? I was just wondering. I'm thinking that because the TDP has dropped from 95w to 65w maybe you can "get away" with just the stock cooler once again as was the case with Sandy Bridge some years back...

I see. So i take it this is mostly a beginner/unskilled/n00b internet complaint then, seems to make sense. Maybe people are just mis-reading the instruction manuals, almost all installation manuals say "secure screws TIGHTLY" or have language to that effect..... maybe some beginner people...

[Ars] AMD sued over allegedly misleading Bulldozer core count

Oddly enough, my first ever gaming PC was using that trusty AMD 3200+ , reliable little guy that chip was! :D 2004-2008 were good years for AMD. That chip saw me through late Vanilla WoW into about half-way into Burning Crusade. 5-6 hours a night and more on weekends. Ah, the memories...

Need quad-core opinions on these games

He doesn't really care about settings. He mostly plays games on "Medium" or "High" from what I've seen. He seems to be more interested in "smoothness" than "OMG! uber ultra graphixs! 4x AA!". For example he plays BF3 on "Medium" just for the smoother framerate in multiplayer matches.

Class-action lawsuits are worthless and a joke. The only people who make any money are the attorneys involved. The actual victims or "class members" get a small pittance, usually a tiny check for $2-$15. There's a reason attorneys are "super eager" to start class-actions and offer "free"...

I find it annoying when these companies do these "show off" events where they debut the chips, benchmarks, features, interviews, etc ..... but then they neglect to mention any dates or when the actual release date is. I would imagine you would "come out right from the start" with the release...

Why does "flash" and "disqus" cause my phone to lag so much??

You would think that with mobile/smartphones being "the next big thing" that these various websites and companies would make their sites as easy to access on a phone as possible - and as fast/smooth running as possible. But instead (unfortunately), it appears that most of these various websites...
