PC monitor death? Future?

I'm in the same boat as Dr.Ph.D. My computer is a little newer but I still only play TF2. My price range is $500 and I'd like a 24". Obviously the Dell U2410 is my first choice but it is pricey and I'm not sure how IPS will be for games. Alternately the ST2410 from Dell is only $192...

Phone card that will not display caller ID

Does anyone know of a phone card that will not display the number you are calling from? I've bought Sprint and AT&T and they both display the number. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is RAID 1 underrated?

Raid 1 will act like Raid 0 when the drive is reading data (reads partly from each drive). You will see a minor (but probably not a noticeable) performance hit when writing since the data has to be written twice. I would say Raid 1 is very underrated especially considering all of the data...

Where can I buy a good suit jacket without spending too much

The pants are too long because they are supposed to be fitted to you by a tailor. At a reputable store this is done in a day or two. Go to the Men's Warehouse. You get what you pay for in product and service. And you will look great too.

Stop WMP10 Opening w/ MP3 Player

It's driving me nuts. How do I stop Windows Media Player from opening everytime I plug my Zen in? I have auto sync off but WMP still opens. Thanks!

Yahoo Music Unlimited 2 years for $59.88

I used Yahoo when it first came out for $60 a year with the Music to Go Service and I really enjoyed it (even with the software problems which hopefully have improved). I cancelled it after a year though because I didn't have a Play for Sure compatible MP3 player or the money for a new one...

Anyone ever build their own laptop using a "barebook" ?

My MaximumPC just came and they too have an article on building your own laptop. They used an Aopen chasis purchased from Jetta.com or Chemusa.com.

This is a good deal. I just paid $50 for the MX1000 mouse alone. Thankfully it's not out of the box - I think it will be worth my time to return it. How do I know if Newegg will charge me the 15% restocking fee though?

I've always liked Nintendo because their far more innovative then any other game company. I bet shortly after the XBox360 and PlayStation3 are released, Microsoft and Sony will have a copy-cat of this controller available for seperate purchase. Other companies have copied Nintendo's rumble...

Triallian tabs don't work.

Trililan used to work fine. Everytime an IM window appeared or I opened one, it would open all in the same tabbed box. Now, for no reason apparently, I have 5 windows and regardless of what options I play with, the windows operate the same. How do I re-enable tabs!?!

2-3 times more powerful then the gamecube? That has to be some kind of error. How do 4 years pass and technology takes a crawl forward? Also, wasn't ATI supposed to supply the graphics chip for it? I figured a 520x variant would be in it.

Yahoo Music now offers unlimited downloads plus to-go services for $6.99 a month or $60.00 annualy.

For $7 a month this isn't bad at all. But if their going to raise it to $10 or $15 then that ruins it for me. And just to clarify, isn't this the same thing Napster introduced during the Super Bowl for $15 a month?

What don't you like about eBay?

They should make an ebaypersonal.com and an ebaycompany.com But in order for that to work they would have to monitor, enforce, and regulate the auctions which, judging by the outrageous shipping costs they don't do already; I doubt they'll do it in the future.

It was my understanding that you can only download to the MP3 player. If you wanted to have songs on your PC you had to pay a $1 a piece for them. Read "Using Napster Light" at the bottom and the line right above it.

Excellent! I didn't know they still had utilities like that! I'll download it now and try it! Darn, the user's guide says it doesn't support Intel SATA controllers yet. The idea is good though, maybe someone else's will. Thanks again.

I tried another cable with no improvement. I took the drive out and it appears fine. There are no jumpers or anything to change or wiggle (minus the cables). Also, I stuck an old 20GB IDE drive in my PC and installed XP on it. It worked fine and did 26MB/Sec on HDTach which is respectable...

1) There doesn't seem to be an excessive amount of services on boot up. When compared to the other XP computer in the house (which is much quicker) there's only 2 more services. 2) The only thing booting for programs are NAV and the Sound icon. Even with NAV disabled I still get 11MB/sec...

Even after a format, my relatively new P4 3.2Ghz computer just seems slow. This morning I ran HDTach and I get avg seek times of 14m/s and avg reads of 11MB/sec. This makes sense now that I think about it, my computer has always taken 2-3 minutes to boot, HL2 and Doom3 always stutter after...

sound card noise with hdd activity?

I was having this same problem and cound not remedy it (also with onboard sound). I ended up getting a Chaintech A700 (I think) that fixed the problem. I think I paid $24. Page 1 of JBDan's step-by-step looks like it might have the source of the problem, but I could of swore I checked...
