New 8500 suddenly stops working with older games (o/c'ing damage)?

Eek, its not reformating in and of itself its making sure i dont' delete anything of value, and then getting all that i saved to reinstall correctly -_-. Its not the video card at least! as reinstalled my older card and its doing just as poorly. So any more suggestions now that i know its not...

thx for the help but ive already tried reinstalling drivers as well as changing most settings. See i didn't change anything for the video card (except for the o/c) i only adjusted one games' settings - and then the card tanked. Ive checked AA/Ansiptropic ect, but they're all off. Im not...

I just received my shiny new Radeon 8500 LE from newegg, that apparently (perhaps because its from a newer production batch) is clocked at the modest 250 mhz core but has excellent quality memory at the asynchronous (and incidentally, retail speed) of 275. So this card is virtually comperable...

Thanks for all the suggestions! BTW: you can get a 1800xp at newegg (actually about 117 after shipping i think). Hmmm, this is really a tough one for me. My SiS 735 mobo chipset is XP compatable; i have a 365 enermax ps and a great fan, so no limitations there... A cpu upgrade will last...

Best 19' or 17' monitor for the $

I ordered a 700nf that should be in today. Uses Mitsubishi Diamatron (their version of Trititron i think) tubes. Aperture Grill. Has won a few 'best buys' from monthly mags. Ill report on it as soon as its up and running.

Moniter about to die; some thoughts on possible replacements?

Thx AluminumStudios looking into that moniter after i finish typing this response... Thx for the recommendation on the 753ds; has anyone heard or seen the Samsung 700(nf?) model? Its supposedly an aperature grill rather than shadow mask and is around 200$.

Crappy 2d performance w/Radeon LE

Crappy 2d performance w/Radeon LE

Yep, i have Diablo 2 and my Radeon got the -exact- same fps as my old TNT1. I don't think its being used at all, imo, since counterstrike was faster; its all about processor speed. As soon as my new heat sink gets in i can assemble my new comp to test this theory regarding that game ^^

What surface do you use for optical mouse?

<< I use the regular fake wooden desk surface, but I notice everywhere I leave the mouse for any extended period of time gets a little dot 'burnt' into the finish. I guess the light from the LED reacts somehow with the surface finish. It looks pretty weird now, there's like 1000 little whitish...
