The 4440 doesn't support overclocking, and my mobo is an MSI H81M so it doesn't support it also. It's at the stock speed of 3.1 GHz. I've also turned off turbo boost and it didn't help.

I just upgraded my CPU from a Pentium G3258 to an i5 4440 (used). I got it from a reputable place, so I can't imagine the chip is bad. Whenever I boot, everything is fine for about 15 minutes and then it BSODs with an "uncorrectable hardware error" pointing to the processor. It doesn't matter...

Can high-end GPU choke low-end CPU?

So, if I were to switch to a worse-performing GPU, there would also be less stress on my CPU, which would alleviate spikes/stutters but give worse performance?

Would it be safe to run a CPU and GPU stress test at the same time to rule out power consumption/PSU problems? Or would going too long harm my computer?

I was thinking that. I assume it won't cause overall FPS drops like V-Sync does? (Sorry if that's a dumb question lol I haven't messed with this stuff since like 2008)

Can you replace the reference cooler with an aftermarket design? I knew you could take it off and add liquid cooling like the NZXT Kraken, but I wasn't aware you could add custom air cooling to a reference card.

Ah okay. Did you notice any performance dips as it heated up? I heard that it's rated to 95C, but getting up to that temp will cause the card to underclock itself and you'll notice FPS drops.
